This book is the result of the “Italian Diaspora Studies Writing Seminar” that took place in May 2019, in Calabria and Basilicata. Il 21 gennaio 2013 sono trascorsi 25 anni dalla morte della serva di Dio Madre Vojtecha Hasmandova, avvenuta a Znojmo-Hardiste, e il 25 marzo 2014 è stato ricordato il centenario della sua nascita a Huštenovive, presso Velehrad. Il deciso “sì” alla chiamata alla santità è il leit-motiv della sua vita fin dalla più giovane età. Alla santità esortava anche le sorelle della propria comunità e tutti coloro con i quali entrava in contatto. Visse un duro periodo di incarcerazione, in seguito, poco dopo la conclusione del Concilio vaticano II, ebbe inizio il suo servizio alla congregazione come madre superiora generale, funzione che ricoprì fino all’anno del centocinquantesimo anniversario della presenza delle sorelle borromee in Repubblica Ceca. Il 28 novembre 1996, a circa nove anni dalla sua morte, il vescovo di Brno, Monsignor Vojtech Cikrle, ha aperto il processo della sua beatificazione e canonizzazione.
