Esiste una già vasta letteratura sulla materia del passaggio generazionale in azienda e destinata ai tecnici del settore come professionisti, studiosi, economisti. Quanto state per leggere, invece, non vuole rivolgersi a chi pianifica il passaggio di consegne di qualcun altro, ma a chi deve e vuole pianificare il proprio. Deve, perché il momento della successione è inevitabile; vuole, perché ha dedicato la propria vita a un progetto imprenditoriale, che ha ideato o ereditato e intende accertarsi di aver messo in atto tutto quanto necessario per dargli una continuità e per trasferire ai propri cari il benessere economico, la memoria storica e affettiva e tutte le conoscenze neces- sarie per conservare e tramandare l’impresa. Dal lavoro diretto con singoli uomini d’impresa e con famiglie imprenditoriali abbiamo osservato alcuni comportamenti ricorrenti che accomunano tutti i soggetti a dispetto di età, settore, genere e composizione del nucleo familiare. Ci siamo resi conto che gli errori di valutazione in merito al passaggio generazionale in azienda, più in generale in merito alla propria successione, derivano principalmente da pregiudizi errati e da una nebulosa conoscenza delle opportunità a disposizione per tutelare e trasmettere il proprio patrimonio. Abbiamo incontrato anche persone che non intendevano preoccuparsi del futuro della propria impresa; che non erano sensibilizzate rispetto all’idea che la loro impresa sarebbe stata, in un modo o nell’altro, ereditata dai loro successori. Ereditata nel suo intero valore o con il suo insostenibile fardello di debiti.
