This book provides a practically oriented and holistic medium for communicating knowledge about a previously little-known treatment approach for skin regeneration. Using case histories, didactic photos and anatomical graphics and scientific data, the authors who describe Percutaneous Collagen Induction, better known as 'Needling', confirm the method's efficacy in the rejuvenating treatment of skin conditions such as scars, lines, sagging skin and stretch marks. As a clearly structured step-by-step guide, it takes the reader through the basics of the method's mechanism of action, perioperative organization and indication-related uses. Percutaneous Collagen Induction with Microneedling is a minimally invasive technique widely used to treat numerous dermatologic conditions such as facial and body scars, melasma, wrinkles, skin laxity, stretch marks, alopecies, vitiligo and scleroderma. Microneedling can also be used to optimize transdermal drug delivery for many substances. This technique uses modern microneedling devices containing multiple fine needles, typically 0.5 to 2.5 mm in length, which are mounted on a barrel and rolled onto the skin to create numerous perforations into the stratum corneum and the papillary dermis. These micro-wounds initiate the release of growth factors, triggering collagen and elastin formation, which results in dermal remodeling and skin resurfacing. This book provides a step-by-step approach to microneedling, based on the authors’ more than ten years of experience with the technique, during which they have treated more than 3,000 patients in Brazil for numerous dermatologic conditions. Richly illustrated throughout, it includes over 400 illustrations.

Yet prior to 2000 it was an unheard of practice mulling around the back pages of dry scientific trials on drug absorption. So what changed? Interestingly in an industry often driven by hype and marketing, it is the results that microneedling can produce that are really setting it apart. 176 pages 2nd Edition 2015
