Radical Philosophy Of Life written by Ernst Baasland and has been published by Mohr Siebeck this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-13 with Religion categories.

The Sermon on the Mount never ceases to challenge readers in every generation. New methods and new insights into new surroundings have to be applied to the most influential speech ever given. In this study, Ernst Baasland takes a fresh look at the history of research done on it, both on its broad influence and on the variety of interpretations. The historical questions are seen from new perspectives. Is orality the key to a better understanding? To what extent can we reconstruct a pre-text and the question of authenticity be answered? These questions are seen through historiographical lenses. The author argues in favour of a universal addressee and maintains that the speech contains radical philosophical thinking. The first audience consisted of Jews, and the religiously based understanding of life is conceived within Judaism. However, its ethics of wisdom is developed in a Hellenistic setting and provides a radical philosophy of life.

A multifaceted portrait of the Hiroshima bombing and its many legacies On August 6, 1945, in the waning days of World War II, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The city's destruction stands as a powerful symbol of nuclear annihilation, but it has also shaped how we think about war and peace, the past and the present, and science and ethics. The Age of Hiroshima traces these complex legacies, exploring how the meanings of Hiroshima have reverberated across the decades and around the world. Michael D. Gordin and G. John Ikenberry bring together leading scholars from disciplines ranging from international relations and political theory to cultural history and science and technology studies, who together provide new perspectives on Hiroshima as both a historical event and a cultural phenomenon. As an event, Hiroshima emerges in the flow of decisions and hard choices surrounding the bombing and its aftermath. As a phenomenon, it marked a revolution in science, politics, and the human imagination—the end of one age and the dawn of another. The Age of Hiroshima reveals how the bombing of Hiroshima gave rise to new conceptions of our world and its precarious interconnectedness, and how we continue to live in its dangerous shadow today.

In 1983, more than one million Germans joined together to protest NATO’s deployment of nuclear missiles in Europe. International media overflowed with images of marches, rallies, and human chains as protesters blockaded depots and agitated for disarmament. Though they failed to halt the deployment, the episode was a decisive one for German society, revealing deep divisions in the nation’s political culture while continuing to mobilize activists. This volume provides a comprehensive reference work on the “Euromissiles” crisis as experienced by its various protagonists, analyzing NATO’s diplomatic and military maneuvering and tracing the political, cultural, and moral discourses that surrounded the missiles’ deployment in East and West Germany.

Here is an essential handbook for all those who would "do theology today, written by one of America's most distinguished theologians. The book is divided into four parts: -- "Theology of Theology, which extends, deepens, and renders more persuasive the author's lines of thought on theological prolegomena -- "Theology and Christology, which argues that to do theology today one must be concerned above all with the fundamental questions of God and Jesus -- "Theology of Religions, which implies that to do theology today is to do it in a truly global context, in the presence of the plurality of ways of being human, including those represented by non-Christian religions -- "Theology in Conversation, which claims that to do theology today is to enter into close and sustained conversation with others who either are or have been engaged in the same task of critical reflection

Die Gerechtigkeit Der Tora Im Reich Des Messias written by Roland Deines and has been published by Mohr Siebeck this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Law categories.

English summary: How can righteousness be achieved? Through the Torah or through Christ? In the Gospel of Matthew it is the Messiah, Jesus Son of David, who is God's only agent for the fulfillment of all righteousness. If this is the case, the question is what is the function of the Torah when the kingdom of God is to appear. Roland Deines demonstrates the Matthean understanding of the new place and function of the Torah in the kingdom of the Messiah through a detailed exegesis of the crucial text Matthew 5:13-20 in the context of the whole gospel. It becomes clear that Matthew is not the advocate of a law-abiding community but a theologian with a genuine profile who is able to show that the new message of Jesus signifies a transformation and not a straight continuation or a nullification of the biblical writings regarded as law and prophets.
