Most data from satellites are in image form, thus most books in the remote sensing field deal exclusively with image processing. However, signal processing can contribute significantly in extracting information from the remotely sensed waveforms or time series data. Pioneering the combination of the two processes, Signal and Image Processing for Re

Synthetic Aperture Radar Sar Data Applications written by Maciej Rysz and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-18 with Mathematics categories.

This carefully curated volume presents an in-depth, state-of-the-art discussion on many applications of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). Integrating interdisciplinary sciences, the book features novel ideas, quantitative methods, and research results, promising to advance computational practices and technologies within the academic and industrial communities. SAR applications employ diverse and often complex computational methods rooted in machine learning, estimation, statistical learning, inversion models, and empirical models. Current and emerging applications of SAR data for earth observation, object detection and recognition, change detection, navigation, and interference mitigation are highlighted. Cutting edge methods, with particular emphasis on machine learning, are included. Contemporary deep learning models in object detection and recognition in SAR imagery with corresponding feature extraction and training schemes are considered. State-of-the-art neural network architectures in SAR-aided navigation are compared and discussed further. Advanced empirical and machine learning models in retrieving land and ocean information — wind, wave, soil conditions, among others, are also included.

"Hyperspectral imaging is an emerging technique in remote sensing data processing that expands and improves the capability of multispectral image analysis. It takes advantage of hundreds of contiguous spectral channels to uncover materials that usually cannot be resolved by multispectral sensors. This book is an outgrowth of my research in hyperspectral image processing and personal communications in response to many people who are interested in my work previously published in various journals. ... A significant difference from other books is that this book explores applications of statistical signal processing techniques in hyperspectral image analysis, specifically, subpixel detection and mixed pixel classification."--Preface.

In recent decades, there has been an increase in the development of strategies for water ecosystem mapping and monitoring. Overall, this is primarily due to legislative efforts to improve the quality of water bodies and oceans. Remote sensing has played a key role in the development of such approaches—from the use of drones for vegetation mapping to autonomous vessels for water quality monitoring. Within the specific context of vegetation characterization, the wide range of available observations—from satellite imagery to high-resolution drone aerial imagery—has enabled the development of monitoring and mapping strategies at multiple scales (e.g., micro- and mesoscales). This Special Issue, entitled “Novel Advances in Aquatic Vegetation Monitoring in Ocean, Lakes and Rivers”, collates recent advances in remote sensing-based methods applied to ocean, river, and lake vegetation characterization, including seaweed, kelp, submerged and emergent vegetation, and floating-leaf and free-floating plants. A total of six manuscripts have been compiled in this Special Issue, ranging from area mapping substrates in riverine environments to the identification of macroalgae in marine environments. The work presented leverages current state-of-the-art methods for aquatic vegetation monitoring and will spark further research within this field.
