This book offers a comprehensive overview of the forensic and radiological aspects of pathological findings, focusing on the most relevant medico-legal issues, such as virtual autopsy (virtopsy), anthropometric identification, post-mortem decomposition features and the latest radiological applications used in forensic investigations. Forensic medicine and radiology are becoming increasingly relevant in the international medical and legal field as they offer essential techniques for determining cause of death and for anthropometric identification. This is highly topical in light of public safety and economic concerns arising as a result of mass migration and international tensions. The book discusses the latest technologies applied in the forensic field, in particular computed tomography and magnetic resonance, which are continuously being updated. Radiological techniques are fundamental in rapidly providing a full description of the damage inflicted to add towitness and medical testimonies, and forensic/radiological anthropology supplies valuable evidence in cases of violence and abuse. Written by international experts, it is of interest to students and residents in forensic medicine and radiology. It also presents a new approach to forensic investigation for lawyers and police special corps as well as law enforcement agencies.

The security of the U.S. commercial aviation system has been a growing concern since the 1970's when the hijacking of aircraft became a serious problem. Over that period, federal aviation officials have been searching for more effective ways for non-invasive screening of passengers, luggage, and cargo to detect concealed explosives and weapons. To assist in this effort, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) asked the NRC for a study of emerging screening technologies. This report-the third of four-focuses on currently maturing millimeter-wavelength/terahertz imaging and spectroscopy technologies that offer promise in meeting aviation security requirements. The report provides a description of the basic operation of these imaging systems, an assessment of their component technologies, an analysis of various system concepts, and an implementation strategy for deployment of millimeter-wavelength/terahertz technology screening systems.

Photoelectric Detection On Derived Attributes Of Targets written by Xing Yang and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-08-22 with Science categories.

This book highlights the novel photoelectric detection technique on derived attributes of targets. Photoelectric detection on derived attributes of targets is a new target detection and monitoring method. It is achieved by acquiring three types of attributes of the target, including those that reflect the essential features of parts of the target, those directly generated from the target, and those synthesized by the target features. The book introduces the classification of derived attributes of targets and describes typical detection methods. Emphases are put on laser detection of aerial moving targets, using derived attributes such as the disturbance of atmospheric wind fields, trailing vortexes, and the disturbance of atmospheric components. The authors also elaborate on visible light imaging detection using derived attributes such as retroreflection and the identification of target carriers. Besides, the synthetic attributes processing of integrated aerospace images is introduced for the detection of targets on the ground and sea surfaces. This book can be used as a good reference for researchers engaged in the fields of photoelectric detection, target detection and image processing, and as a reference book for senior undergraduates and postgraduates in relevant majors.
