Thepastdecadehasseendramaticadvances inurologyandimaging. Thesechangesareevident in improvements in laparoscopic surgery as well as in the emergence of multidetector CT, with multiplanar reformatting and FDG-PET-CT as routine imaging methods. The new minimally invasive procedures often require more exacting imaging as the surgeon does not have the same visual ?eld of view as was possible with open procedures. Thus, it is appropriate now to p- vide an update on imaging advances for the bene?t of urologists and radiologists alike. The increasing number of innovative imaging approaches to urologic tumors including CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, and endoscopic imaging can be perplexing and lead to over- and underesti- tions of the capabilities of modern imaging on the part of those who interpret them and those who use the information they provide for patient management. There is a growing “exp- tations gap” between what is expected and what is possible that needs to be closed. While previous books have focused on the more common urologic tumors such as bladder, prostate, andkidneycancer, nonehasattemptedacomprehensivereviewofthestateoftheartofimaging in most of the tumors involved in urologic oncology. Imaging in Urologic Oncology addresses these challenges. In the modern imaging department it is easy to forget how useful conventional plain rad- graphy can be in urologic diagnosis. Much of our current understanding of urologic disease is based on the “classic appearance” on intravenous urograms, cystograms, or retrograde pye- grams. Therefore, conventional imaging provides the ?rst “layer” in our understanding of u- logic tumors. The next layer is cross-sectional imaging.

After an introductory chapter on the histopathological classification of kidney cancers, the advantages and disadvantages of the various imaging modalities used in the diagnosis and assessment of disease extension are documented. Subsequent chapters offer an exhaustive description of the radiological features of the different histological subtypes of kidney cancer, with radiological and histological illustrations and tables. The latest innovations in interventional and minimally invasive procedures are also well covered. The book benefits from carefully chosen and technically excellent images. Each of the 24 chapters is written by an internationally acclaimed expert, making this book the most current and complete treatment of the subject available. It should be of great interest to radiologists, oncologists, and urologists.

According to the International Association for Ambulatory Surgery (IAAS), ambulatory surgery should be defined as 'an operation/procedure, excluding an office or outpatient operation/procedure, where the patient is discharged on the same working day'. The rise of ambulatory surgery has been driven by technological advances that reduce the need for overnight hospital stays, enhanced recovery programmes that advocate early mobilisation, and the need for economic efficiency. Recent experience has shown that redistributing surgical procedures from the inpatient setting to ambulatory centres can be done without impacting quality. The majority of people requiring urologic surgery are now treated as day/outpatients thus requiring a different level of care from inpatients. Ambulatory Urology and Urogynaecology is the only book that combines urology and urogynaecology focuses on outpatient management. Packed with learning points, practical hints and tips, and boasting an international group of contributing authors, this book is co-edited by world-leading pioneers in urologic and urogynaecological surgery. Ambulatory Urology and Urogynaecology is ideal for urologists, urogynaecologists and gynaecologists, as well as specialist urology nurses and surgeons. With more and outpatient procedures being performed, this book is the perfect step-by-step guide to consult time and time again.

Uroradiology is an up-to-date, image-oriented reference in the style of a teaching file that has been designed specifically to be of value in clinical practice. All aspects of the imaging of urologic diseases are covered, and case studies illustrate the findings obtained with the relevant imaging modalities in both common and uncommon conditions. Most chapters focus on a particular clinical problem, but normal findings, congenital anomalies, and interventions are also discussed and illustrated. In this second edition, the range and quality of the illustrations have been enhanced, and many schematic drawings have been added to help readers memorize characteristic imaging findings through pattern recognition. The accompanying text is concise and informative. Besides serving as an outstanding aid to differential diagnosis, this book will provide a user-friendly review tool for certification or recertification in radiology.

The Atlas of Genitourinary Oncological Imaging presents a comprehensive visual review of appearances for normal anatomy and oncological diseases in the genitourinary system using over 900 radiological images and illustrations. The book presents current imaging techniques and discusses the role of imaging in pre-treatment staging and post-treatment follow-up. Diseases discussed include kidney, adrenal gland, upper tract, bladder, prostate, testes, and pediatric malignancies. Individual chapters include normal anatomy, imaging techniques, and pathology of each cancer type. The staging of the malignancy and what to include in the radiology report are discussed, and expected and complicated postoperative and post-treatment findings and recurrence are presented. Dedicated chapters on interventional and radiation therapy discuss their unique role in the management and treatment of oncology of the genitourinary system. Additionally, a chapter on chemotherapy toxicities discusses drug reaction treatment therapies unique to the genitourinary system. Edited and written by radiologists from the genitourinary disease management team at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Atlas of Genitourinary Oncological Imaging is an ideal resource for radiology and urology trainees seeking a review of the basics and for practicing radiologists looking for answers to challenging cases confronted in daily practice.
