Primal Loss written by Leila Miller and has been published by Lcb Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-20 with Adult children of divorced parents categories.

Seventy now-adult children of divorce give their candid and often heart-wrenching answers to eight questions (arranged in eight chapters, by question), including: What were the main effects of your parents' divorce on your life? What do you say to those who claim that "children are resilient" and "children are happy when their parents are happy"? What would you like to tell your parents then and now? What do you want adults in our culture to know about divorce? What role has your faith played in your healing? Their simple and poignant responses are difficult to read and yet not without hope. Most of the contributors--women and men, young and old, single and married--have never spoken of the pain and consequences of their parents' divorce until now. They have often never been asked, and they believe that no one really wants to know. Despite vastly different circumstances and details, the similarities in their testimonies are striking; as the reader will discover, the death of a child's family impacts the human heart in universal ways.

"People say our marriage is impossible." Laurie and Matt Krieg are in a mixed-orientation marriage: a marriage in which at least one partner's primary attraction isn't toward the gender of their spouse. In the Kriegs' case, Laurie is primarily attracted to women—and so is Matt. Some find the idea of mixed-orientation marriage bewildering or even offensive. But as the Kriegs have learned, nothing is impossible with God—and that's as true of their marriage as anyone else's. In An Impossible Marriage, the Kriegs tell their story: how they met and got married, the challenges and breakthroughs of their journey, and what they've learned about marriage along the way. Christianity teaches us that marriage is a picture of Jesus’ love for the church—and that's just as true in a mixed-orientation marriage as in a straight one. With vulnerability and wisdom, this book lays out an engaging picture of marriage in all its pain and beauty. It's a picture that points us, over and over again, to the love and grace of Jesus—as marriage was always meant to do.

The Question Do you want to build your marriage on the fallen rubble of first century Roman culture where a wife was the property of her husband, or do you want to build it on the foundation of God's original will? Premise In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus prayed to God, "your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10, NIV) The premise of this novel is that before the Fall, God expressed His original will about a marriage relationship when He declared Adam and Eve to be coequal ruling partners. Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:26,27, NIV) When Jesus redeemed His Church from the Fall, He also redeemed marriage to God's original will. Story In this novel, Jack and Caroline are missionaries serving in a very remote location with intermittent connectivity to the Internet. They love each other but argue constantly. Even though they will not be coming back to the States until they complete their current tour, they have asked Rick and Georgeann for help. Since the four of them cannot meet face to face, and the use of video conferencing is impossible, Rick and Georgeann have agreed to attempt the very unusual task of coaching them by email. Jack and Caroline learn: God's purpose for healing and growth through marriage How wounds and defenses contribute to their arguments Strategies and tools for building a mutually satisfying marriage A Conflict Checklist for identifying factors that contribute to their arguments The Bible's Hidden Book of Marriage Readers While this novel is written primarily to couples who are engaged or married, people who are divorced can use this material to not only understand relationships from their past, but also to build a mutually satisfying marriage in the future. People who are single can use this material to understand the mental and emotional dynamics of their current and past relationships, as well as the relationships of others such as parents, family, and friends. And finally, anyone who is committed to helping couples heal and grow through marriage will find this novel to be a useful resource. https: //Pre-FallMarriage.com for excerpts and more information.

What God Has Joined Together written by Robert H. Vasoli and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-04-16 with Religion categories.

The recent controversy over Joe Kennedy's annulment gave only a glimpse of American Catholicism's open secret: that contrary to official Catholic doctrine, American churches grant annulments wholesale, freely declaring marriages nonexistent so that one or both partners can remarry in the church. The United States is home to only 6% of the world's Catholics, Robert Vasoli points out, but it now accounts for 75% of all Church annulments, two-thirds of which are granted on ostensibly psychological grounds. The real scandal, though, is not simply the numbers, but that Church marriage courts annul thousands of marriages that are actually valid according to Catholic teaching. Drawing on considerable research, the author details precisely how these courts let divorced Catholics--and many non-Catholics as well--bypass Catholic teaching and law. He shows, for instance, how they often help petitioners manufacture grounds for annulment, which are justified with specious psychological reasoning that are counter to the letter and spirit of canon law. Indeed, it may even be alleged that "lack of emotional maturity" at the time of the wedding can invalidate marriages that have lasted 30 years. The result has been a tidal wave: in 1968, the American church granted fewer than 600 annulments; today it hands out more than 60,000 a year. But Rome has not smiled on the performance of U.S. tribunals: of those psychological annulments appealed to the Roman Rota (the Vatican's highest marriage tribunal), more than 90% are overturned. This revealing look at annulment weaves painstaking analysis with a wealth of evidence as it illuminates the degree to which the U.S. Church has gone its own way since Vatican II on what constitutes valid marriage.

An arranged marriage becomes inconvenient for two Sri Lankan Brits in this novel of love, family, and living your truth. Chaya is a young woman torn between her duty to family and her life in the UK. While her traditional Sri Lankan parents want her to settle down into marriage, they don’t know that Chaya, terrified of their disapproval, has turned away the one true love of her life, Noah. Gimhana is hiding his sexuality from his family. It’s easy enough to pretend he’s straight when he lives half a world away in the UK. But it’s getting harder and harder to turn down the potential brides his parents keep finding for him. When Chaya and Gimhana meet, a marriage of convenience seems like the perfect solution to their problems. Together they have everything – friendship, stability and their parents’ approval. But when both Chaya and Gimhana find themselves falling in love outside of their marriage, they’re left with an impossible decision – risk everything they’ve built together, or finally follow their heart? Will they choose love, or carry on living a lie? Perfect for fans of Amanda Prowse, Ayisha Malik, and Susan Lewis.
