This year’s report should dispel any lingering doubts that the world is moving backwards in its efforts to end hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition in all its forms. We are now only eight years away from 2030, but the distance to reach many of the SDG 2 targets is growing wider each year. There are indeed efforts to make progress towards SDG 2, yet they are proving insufficient in the face of a more challenging and uncertain context. The intensification of the major drivers behind recent food insecurity and malnutrition trends (i.e. conflict, climate extremes and economic shocks) combined with the high cost of nutritious foods and growing inequalities will continue to challenge food security and nutrition. This will be the case until agrifood systems are transformed, become more resilient and are delivering lower cost nutritious foods and affordable healthy diets for all, sustainably and inclusively.

Le rapport de cette année devrait dissiper les doutes qui pourraient subsister quant au fait que le monde perd du terrain dans sa lutte pour mettre un terme à la faim, à l’insécurité alimentaire et à la malnutrition sous toutes ses formes. Huit ans seulement nous séparent de l’horizon 2030, or la distance qui reste à parcourir pour atteindre les cibles associées au deuxième objectif de développement durable (ODD 2) s’accroît d’année en année. Certes, des efforts sont faits pour progresser vers l’ODD 2, mais ils sont manifestement insuffisants compte tenu du contexte plus difficile et incertain. L’intensification des principaux facteurs à l’oeuvre derrière les tendances récentes en matière d’insécurité alimentaire et de malnutrition (conflits, extrêmes climatiques et chocs économiques), associée au coût élevé des aliments nutritifs et aux inégalités croissantes, va continuer à mettre la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition à rude épreuve. Cet état de fait durera aussi longtemps que les systèmes agroalimentaires n’auront pas été transformés, qu’ils ne seront pas devenus plus résilients et qu’ils ne fourniront pas des aliments nutritifs à moindre coût et une alimentation saine abordable, et ce de façon durable et inclusive. Доклад этого года однозначно подтверждает, что мир отдаляется от достижения целей по ликвидации голода, отсутствия продовольственной безопасности и неполноценного питания во всех его формах. До 2030 года осталось всего восемь лет, но мы с каждым годом отдаляемся от решения многих задач по достижению ЦУР 2. Усилия по достижению ЦУР 2 предпринимаются, однако они оказываются недостаточными перед лицом все более сложных проблем и растущей неопределенности. Усиление воздействия основных факторов, обусловливающих усугубление проблем отсутствия продовольственной безопасности и неполноценного питания (конфликтов, экстремальных климатических явлений и экономических потрясений), высокая стоимость питательных продуктов и растущее неравенство будут и впредь создавать проблемы в области продовольственной безопасности и питания. Только преобразование и повышение жизнестойкости агропродовольственных систем и превращение их в источник более дешевых питательных продуктов и экономически доступного здорового питания для всех на принципах устойчивости и инклюзивности поможет переломить эту тенденцию.
