St. John Fisher is perhaps the forgotten saint. While his times are remembered, he is not. The 20th century saw a rebirth in interest in Fisher, the only Bishops to not bend the knee to Henry VIII. His work, the Defence of the Priesthood, was written in refutation of Martin Luther's work "On the Abolition of Private Mass." It relies principally on the witness of the New Testament, then the Church Fathers to prove with certainty that the Catholic priesthood was introduced by Jesus Christ. Luther regularly responded to anyone who criticized him with abuse, but to Fisher he never made any response, not only because the treatise was unanswerable, but also because Fisher was the holiest Bishop in Christendom . This treatise, being thoroughly grounded in Holy Scripture, reveals Fisher as the true witness to the Gospel.

The Freedom of the Christian was Martin Luther's first public defense of the doctrine of justification by grace through faith on account of Christ alone. Luther's explosive rediscovery of the Gospel of Jesus Christ shattered the Church of Rome's foundation of works, which considered good works a part of salvation instead of a result of it. Here, Luther constructed a rich theology that relies on the full power of the Gospel, which not only grants saving faith but also nurtures that faith through good works done in the freest service. This new abridged translation from Adam Francisco, featuring a brief essay from Scott Keith, leaves no doubt that the Christian, secure in Christ, is truly free—free from sin, death, and the devil, and free to serve their neighbor.

"How can we tolerate such Trojan horses as the former Secretary-General of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Bishop Nunzio Galantino, who said not long ago that 'the Reformation carried out by Martin Luther 500 years ago was an event of the Holy Spirit.'" Michel Houellebecq, "RESTORATION". "The Church needs to be better at helping us be better Christians," Daniel P. Horan, America. "To express these very sharp arguments of the laity by force alone, and not to resolve them by giving reasons. Is to expose the Church and its Pope to the ridicule of their enemies and to make Christians unhappy." Luther, Thesis # 90, October 31, 1517. "I view "time" as a human creation whereas "eternal" is a divine term meaning without time. For example, corporations measure something called "takt time." Takt time is the average time between the start of production of one unit and the start of production of the next unit, when these production starts are set to match the rate of customer demand. Wikipedia". In terms of eternal life, takt time is the period between conception and the cessation of brain waves." David Danjczek, Retired business executive and university professor. "Your first-person perspective makes your book more impactful than if presented in the third-person." Charles G. Conway, Metaphysics Instructor, U. C. Riverdale. *** Gonzalo T. Palacios (b. Venezuela, 1938, married, 3 sons, 8 grandchildren) obtained his PhL in Philosophy from the Gregorian University (Rome), where he also studied Catholic theology. During the Second Vatican Council, students at the Gregorian were instructed by visiting theologians and religious leaders from all over the world. Palacios returned to the U. S. and in 1970 obtained his doctoral degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America (Washington DC). He retired in 2015 after teaching Philosophy for over 50 years. Dr. Palacios' Roman years provided him with excellent spiritual and intellectual guidelines. His eyes opened to the earthly realities undermining his Church, the same moral corruption that alienated Martin Luther from his Church 500 years earlier. Contact: [email protected]

The Defence of the Seven Sacraments (in Latin, Assertio Septem Sacramentorum) is a theological treatise from 1521, written by King Henry VIII of England. Henry started to write it in 1519 while he was reading Martin Luther's attack on indulgences. By June of that year, he had shown it to Thomas Wolsey, but it remained private until three years later, when the earlier manuscript became the first two chapters of the Assertio, the rest consisting of new material relating to Luther's De Captivitate Babylonica. It is believed that Thomas More was involved in the composition of the piece. Author J. J. Scarisbrick describes the work as "one of the most successful pieces of Catholic polemics produced by the first generation of anti-Protestant writers." It went through some twenty editions in the sixteenth century and, as early as 1522, had appeared in two different German translations. It was dedicated to Pope Leo X, who rewarded Henry with the title Fidei Defensor (Defender of the Faith) in October 1521 (a title revoked following the king's break with the Catholic Church in the 1530s, but re-awarded to his heir by the English Parliament).
