Kathleen already had two boys to raise by herself, but when she went out with Richard, she thought he had her best interests at heart. He had been a childhood friend and knew her first husband had abandoned her. He also knew about her bouts of mania and depression, and he would not take advantage of that ... would he? But after missing her period and not hearing from Richard, Kathleen determined that her worst fear had come true—she’d gotten pregnant again. She did not want to give her baby up for adoption, but she felt she had no choice. Years later, her daughter, Suzanne, seeks to discover the truth of her birth, but she does not end up finding answers until age forty. In this book, Suzanne relives her journey of seeking answers, describing the circumstances, challenges, heartache, and the hope associated with giving a child up for adoption and fulfilling the dreams of a barren couple. Told through the eyes of multiple personas—her birth mother, her adoptive parents, and herself—the author provides a record, partly fictionalized, of the ordeal that families go through when going through adoption.

No Self To Be Found written by James Giles and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with Philosophy categories.

This book is a exploration of the notion of personal identity. Here it is shown how the various attempts to give an account of personal identity are all based on false assumptions and so inevitably run aground. One of the first Western thinkers to realize this was David Hume, the 18th century empiricist philosopher who argued that self was a fiction. A new interpretation of Hume's no-self theory is put forward by arguing for an eliminative rather than a reductive point of view of personal identity, and by approaching the problem in terms of phenomenology, Buddhist critiques of the notion of the self, and the idea of a constructed self-image. No Self to Be Found explores the problem of personal identity from the most basic level by raising the question of the existence of personal identity itself.

There are many true things about you—true things you use to build an identity. Parent. Introvert. Victim. Student. Extrovert. Entrepreneur. Single. These truths can identify you, your successes and failures, your expectations and disappointments, your secret dreams and hidden shames. But what if your true identity isn't found in any of these smaller truths, but in the grand truth of who God says you are? In other words, lots of things are true about you—but are they the truest? David Lomas invites you to discover and live out the truth of who God created you to be: you are loved, you are accepted, and you are made in God's image. It's time to move beyond the lesser voices and discover why everything changes when you become who you really are.
