Are you outwardly successful but inwardly do you feel like a big kid? Do you aspire to be a loving parent but all too often “lose it” in hurtful ways? Do you crave intimacy but sometimes wonder if it’s worth the struggle? Or are you plagued by constant vague feelings of anxiety or depression? If any of this sounds familiar, you may be experiencing the hidden but damaging effects of a painful childhood—carrying within you a “wounded inner child” that is crying out for attention and healing. In this powerful book, John Bradshaw shows how we can learn to nurture that inner child, in essence offering ourselves the good parenting we needed and longed for. Through a step-by-step process of exploring the unfinished business of each developmental stage, we can break away from destructive family rules and roles and free ourselves to live responsibly in the present. Then, says Bradshaw, the healed inner child becomes a source of vitality, enabling us to find new joy and energy in living. Homecoming includes a wealth of unique case histories and interactive techniques, including questionnaires, letter-writing to the inner child, guided meditations, and affirmations. Pioneering when introduced, these classic therapies are now being validated by new discoveries in attachment research and neuroscience. No one has ever brought them to a popular audience more effectively and inspiringly than John Bradshaw.

This is a book for the person who is hungry for an answer. I know that feeling. I was stuck in it for years and as a Coach and Speaker, I have noticed there is a constant theme for us all. We have read all of the success books, we have gone to the seminars but when we go to execute their wonderful information a feeling comes up. We lay in bed and just don't "feel" like doing what they suggest even though we know it will make our life better. That "feeling" stops us from executing one or more steps they suggest we take to make our lives better. I couldn't overcome that feeling either. Here I was an alcoholic, a sex addict, sugar addict, spending addict, tobacco addict, love addict, I had gone bankrupt, been through two horrific divorces, a child custody battle, I played two professional sports I never wanted to play and I contemplated suicide. None of the books showed me or explained where that feeling comes from, why we all get it and how to overcome it. Without that information, I couldn't execute all of their wonderful suggestions. So this is my story and how I took all of that great information from all of those great success teachers, I collated it and then added to it. I discuss where that feeling comes from, why we all get it and how to overcome it. This book bridges the gap. When you have this information, this skillset to overcome that "feeling" than you can put into place all of their incredible advice and have the personal and professional success we are all searching for.

Set amid the beauty and decadence of the Ottoman Empire, Lady Emily's next adventure is full of intrigue, treachery, and romance. Looking forward to the joys of connubial bliss, newlyweds Lady Emily and Colin Hargreaves, diplomats of the British Empire, set out toward Turkey for an exotic honeymoon. But on their first night in the city, a harem girl is found murdered, strangled in the courtyard of the sultan's lavish palace. Sir Richard St. Clare, an Englishman who works at the embassy in Constantinople, recognizes the girl as his own daughter who was kidnapped twenty years earlier. Emily and Colin promise the heartbroken father that they'll find her killer, but as the investigation gains speed, they find that appearances can be all too deceiving. As a woman, Emily is given access to the forbidden world of the harem and quickly discovers that its mysterious, sheltered walls offer no protection from a ruthless murderer. As the number of victims grows, Emily must rely on her own sharp wit if she is to stop a killer bent on exacting vengeance - no matter how many innocent lives he leaves in his wake. 'Looking through the eyes of a child is not a twee, cosy or easy experience. It can be unsettling, uncomfortable, edgy...' - from the Introduction Who has the right to 'do' theology? Only academics? Only adults? Or do we all have a voice in the kingdom of God? Through the Eyes of a Child considers 14 key theological themes from one of the most neglected of perspectives - that of children. Honouring Jesus' command to place the child at the centre, theologians, psychologists and educationalists take us from our comfort zone to look afresh at some of the most grave, difficult and beautiful topics in Christian theology. Challenging conventional readings of theology, this landmark work will fascinate and challenge anyone who cares about children and their place in the world and the church.
