In Vitro Methods In Developmental Toxicology written by Gary L. Kimmel and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-04 with Medical categories.
First Published in 1990, this text brings together the work of several investigators who used in vitro techniques to probe the nature of embryonic cell response to a diverse group of chemical agents. It focuses on the approaches, limitations, usefulness and applicability of defining mechanisms underlying altered development. This work includes discussions on pharmacodynamic principles and placental transfer mechanisms. It also examines the potential for in vitro systems to serve as an adjunct to the risk assessment process. Ideal for both the layman and the expert in this area, this volume provides a general understanding of the types of approaches that can be used and specific approaches in investigating altered development.

Reproductive Toxicology Second Edition written by J Witorsch Raphael and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-06-30 with Medical categories.
Presents not only the major principles and current issues in the field but also provides a physiologic basis for the actions and reactions to reproductive toxic agents. The volume is divided into three sections. The first focuses on the current concepts of normal mammalian reproductive function from the systems to subcellular level. The second explains how toxic substances disrupt the normal functioning of elements of the mammalian reproductive system. The third section discusses other issues of long-standing or recent interest to the field, such as clinical aspects, epidemiology, and the toxic effects of low-energy electromagnetic fields and tobacco, alcohol, and other substances of abuse. Developmental toxicology, an increasingly important area, encompasses the study of toxicant effects on development, from conception through puberty. The Handbook of Developmental Toxicology provides useful insights gained from hands-on experience, as well as a theoretical foundation. In this convenient reference you will find information not previously gathered in one source-including comparative developmental milestones, historical data, and a glossary of terms used in developmental toxicity evaluation. This handbook is a practical guide for individuals who are responsible for testing chemical agents and for regulatory scientists who must evaluate studies, interpret data, and perform risk assessments. Packed with features, the Handbook of Developmental Toxicology is ideal for training students and technicians in developmental toxicology.

Scientific Frontiers in Developmental Toxicology and Risk Assessment reviews advances made during the last 10-15 years in fields such as developmental biology, molecular biology, and genetics. It describes a novel approach for how these advances might be used in combination with existing methodologies to further the understanding of mechanisms of developmental toxicity, to improve the assessment of chemicals for their ability to cause developmental toxicity, and to improve risk assessment for developmental defects. For example, based on the recent advances, even the smallest, simplest laboratory animals such as the fruit fly, roundworm, and zebrafish might be able to serve as developmental toxicological models for human biological systems. Use of such organisms might allow for rapid and inexpensive testing of large numbers of chemicals for their potential to cause developmental toxicity; presently, there are little or no developmental toxicity data available for the majority of natural and manufactured chemicals in use. This new approach to developmental toxicology and risk assessment will require simultaneous research on several fronts by experts from multiple scientific disciplines, including developmental toxicologists, developmental biologists, geneticists, epidemiologists, and biostatisticians.
