This book explores the unfinished India–Pakistan Trade normalisation agenda (building upon the themes covered in the book “India-Pakistan Trade: Strengthening Economic Relations” published by Springer in 2014) and discusses the steps that must be undertaken in order to move the bilateral engagement forward. Given the commencement of bilateral state-level talks and the Indian government’s emphasis on South Asian integration, it adds impetus to the trade liberalisation process, while also providing essential recommendations for policymakers in both countries. The unfinished agenda faces obstacles such as the list of items for which export from India to Pakistan continues to be restricted; lack of land borders and seamless cross-border transport services, which hampers the realisation of trade potential; negative reporting in the media, which influences traders’ perceptions; and the continued occurrence of informal trade resulting from inadequacies of formal trade relations. The book examines various sectors, including the agricultural, textiles, automotive and pharmaceutical industries, given their predominance on the list of restricted items for bilateral trade. It also covers studies on unconventional and under-researched themes concerning informal trade, informational barriers to India–Pakistan trade, and opening new land borders for trade – all of which can play a facilitating role in realizing the untapped trade potential between India and Pakistan. The book also includes the second round of the India–Pakistan trade perception survey, which identifies impediments to India–Pakistan bilateral trade and assesses the change in traders’ perceptions since the first round of the survey, which was published in 2014.

One of the more significant recent economic developments in South Asia was the revival of trade talks between India and Pakistan in 2011. A question frequently raised is why India and Pakistan trade so little with each other despite the existence of common history, language, culture, and long borders. Economic theory and evidence from around the world would predict that trade between the two largest economies in South Asia would be far greater than its current level of around $2.5 billion. It is clear to most observers that Pakistan's economic development will depend to a large extent on normalizing relations with India to pave the way for South Asian regional economic integration. For India, trade with Pakistan is not only advantageous in itself, but would also facilitate trade with Afghanistan, China, Iran, and the Central Asian countries. Thus, for both countries, increased trade with each other would be a win-win outcome. This paper examines key issues related to India-Pakistan trade relations from the Pakistani perspective.

But This Cost May Still Be Less Than The Cost We Are Incurring From Continued Hostility And Cross Border Terrorism In The Form Of Continuous Military Deployment And Killings Of Civil And Military Persons.Pakistan Is Constantly Blaming India In All Regional And International Fora For Not Implementing The United Nations Resolution Regarding Holding Of Plebiscite In Jammu And Kashmir. In Fact, Pakistan Is Responsible For This Because It Has Failed To Withdraw Its Forces From Jammu And Kashmir Which Was A Condition For Holding Plebiscite According To The United Nations Resolution.The Editor Holds That India Should Drop No First Use Of Nuclear Weapons Policy Against A Country Which Repeatedly Threatens First Use Of Nuclear Weapons. The First Use Of Nuclear Weapons By Pakistan May Be So Massive And Widespread That It May Disable India To Use The Nuclear Weapon.If India Drops Its No First Use Option Of Nuclear Weapons, Pakistan Would Stop Blackmailing India And May Even Be Deterred Venturing Terrorism In India.The Volumes Include Viewpoints Of A Number Of Eminent Experts On Indo-Pak Relations.
