Indirect questioning is a crucial topic in surveys of human populations. When the issue is about a stigmatizing characteristic (for example about illegal drug use), standard survey methodologies are destined to fail because, as expected, people are not willing to reveal incriminating information or information violating their privacy. Indirect questioning techniques have been devised so that the privacy of participants in a sample survey is protected and at the same time good estimates of certain parameters (e.g. the percentage of people in a certain community who use illegal drugs) can be delivered. The topic is modern and still under development. Indirect Questioning in Sample Surveys represents a collection of the most important and recent techniques of indirect questioning, including various versions of randomized response, the item count technique, the nominative technique, the three-card method, non-randomized response models and negative surveys, while also exploring the key aspect of protecting privacy.

A Comprehensive Textbook On Sample Surveys written by Arijit Chaudhuri and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-05-08 with Mathematics categories.
As a comprehensive textbook in survey sampling, this book discusses the inadequacies of classic, designed-based inferential procedures and provides alternative approaches in the form of model formulations, model-design-based procedures of analysis, inference and interpretation. The book focuses on a wide range of topics which included Bayesian and Empirical Bayesian approaches, complex procedures of stratification, clustering, sampling in multi stages and phases, linear and non-linear estimation of parameters, small area estimation by spatial and chronological modelling, network and adaptive sampling methods and more. The book includes detailed case studies and exercises, making it valuable for students of statistics, specifically survey sampling.

Starting from the preliminaries and ending with live examples, Modern Survey Sampling details what a sample can communicate about an unknowable aggregate in a real situation. The author lucidly develops and presents numerous approaches. He details recent developments and explores fresh and unseen problems, hitting upon possible solutions. The text covers current research output in a student-friendly manner with attractive illustrations. It introduces sampling and discusses how to select a sample for which a selection-probability is specified to prescribe its performance characteristics. The author then explains how to examine samples with varying probabilities to derive profits. He then examines how to use partial segments to make reasonable guesses about a sample's behavior and assess the elements of discrepancies. Including case studies, exercises, and solutions, the book highlights special survey techniques needed to capture trustworthy data and put it to intelligent use. It then discusses the model-assisted approach and network sampling, before moving on to speculating about random processes. The author draws on his extensive teaching experience to create a textbook that gives your students a thorough grounding in the technologies of survey sampling and modeling and also provides you with the tools to teach them.

Randomized Response Techniques written by Arijit Chaudhuri and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-29 with Mathematics categories.
This book presents an up-to-date perspective on randomized response techniques (RRT). It discusses the most appropriate and efficient procedures of RRT for analysing data from queries dealing with sensitive and confidential issues, including the treatment of infinite and finite population setups. The book aims to spark a renewed interest among sampling experts who may have overlooked RRT. By addressing the missing topics and incorporating a wide range of contributors' works, it seeks to foster an appreciative academic environment and inspire a reformed and amended view of RRT. As the book unfolds, readers will gain valuable insights into the evolving landscape of RRT and its applications, positioning them at the forefront of this engaging field of study. On RRT, the literature has grown immensely since its inception in 1965 by S.L. Warner. Despite several books published on the subject, there are still two crucial topics missing from the existing RRT literature. This book aimsto address these gaps and provide valuable insights to curious readers in the field. The book is mandatory reading for statisticians and biostatisticians, market researchers, operations researchers, pollsters, sociologists, political scientists, economists and advanced undergraduate and graduate students in these areas.

Randomized response is a data collection strategy specifically designed for surveys of a sensitive nature. By establishing a probabilistic connection between question and answer, randomized response and related methods protect respondents who are asked to disclose personal information. Covering a half century of theoretical and applied research, the Second Edition significantly updates and expands what was, at the time, the first comprehensive and practical guide to randomized response.

Statistical practices have recently been questioned by numerous independent authors, to the extent that a significant fraction of accepted research findings can be questioned. This suggests that statistical methodologies may have gone too far into an engineering practice, with minimal concern for their foundation, interpretation, assumptions, and limitations, which may be jeopardized in the current context. Disguised by overwhelming data sets, advanced processing, and stunning presentations, the basic approach is often intractable to anyone but the analyst. The hierarchical nature of statistical inference, exemplified by Bayesian aggregation of prior and derived knowledge, may also be challenging. Conceptual simplified studies of the kind presented in this book could therefore provide valuable guidance when developing statistical methodologies, but also applying state of the art with greater confidence.
