These simple statements hold huge implications about how the universe must operate if it was truly infinite rather than finite, as is commonly thought. In one sense, this book, Universal Cycle Theory, may seem radical because it postulates that the universe operates in ways that are dramatically different from what we are taught. Yet, this new theory is conventional in the sense that it closely conforms to virtually all existing laws, equations, and observations. There are only two elements that make the Universal Cycle Theory radical cycles and infinity. Other than that, much of what you read in this book will seem familiar and conventional. This book is about the cosmology of a universe that is infinite in time and space. To support the concept of such a universe, one has to abandon the supposition of an infinite range of gravitational interactions. And, one has to dehumanize physics at the fundamental level, which involves the acceptance of two kinds of laws in physics: the fundamental laws of nature that exist independent of the human mind; and the physical laws that are invented by physicists and exist in the human mind only. Those two notions allow for the development of a cosmological model of the universe that is cogent and simple. They also enable the explanation of some of the most notable mysteries in physics, such as the ratio of the electrostatic force to the gravity force for fundamental particles, the force of antigravity and the constancy of the speed of light. Those explanations support the concept of an infinite universe, which is very old. (It dates back to at least the ancient Greeks.) What is new in this book is the attempt to base the cosmology of an infinite universe primarily on logic and the fundamentals of physics rather than astronomic observations, the interpretations of which can be bias. Astronomic observations serve to show that the cosmology of the infinite-in-time universe is feasible. "The Standard Cosmological Model, or Big Bang model, is currently the most widely accepted theory of how the universe is structured. Szymanski, however, argues for a different one, based on the idea that the universe is infinite in time and space and therefore not expanding as the Big Bang model suggests. He achieves this conclusion by arguing that the underlying theories and mathematical laws that inform our current model of the universe are flawed, as they're human inventions that exist only in the mind. The fundamental laws of nature, he maintains, are simple and nonmathematical; he asserts that they support the notion of the Perfect Cosmological Principle, which holds that 'the universe is homogeneous and isotropic on a large space scale and on a large time scale, which implies that the universe is infinite in time and nonevolving.' The field equations of Einstein's General Relativity are solved for an infinite universe with uniform density. One of the three solutions, the Infinite Universe of Einstein and Newton, fits all the data for the Hubble diagram better than the Big Bang. Next, using general relativity and the physics that evolved from Newton, the force of gravity between two massive point particles is found. Utilizing this force and the Infinite Universe of Einstein and Newton model, the net force of gravity on a point particle in arbitrary motion, due the uniform mass distribution of the universe, is calculated by integration. This net force of gravity is found to be equal to the Force of Inertia. These calculations explain Newton's First Law, Newton's Second Law, and the equivalence of inertial and gravitational mass. The middle of the book deals with the development of quantum mechanics. Here it is shown that hidden within the classical mechanics of particles there is the phase of a wave, associated with a particle, that moves at the speed of a de Broglie wave. The form of the phase of the wave is developed. Making use of the form of the phase, the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for a particle is setup to be solved using an integrating factor. The resulting equation is manipulated directly into the form of the Schrodinger equation. This development requires that the particle Hamilton-Jacobi equation has a solution whenever the Schrodinger equation has a solution and vice versa. The classical wave function is then shown to have exactly the same mathematical properties as the quantum mechanical wave function, including the fact that the absolute value squared of the classical wave function has the mathematical properties of a probability density. However, the interpretation that this is a probability density for the particle is shown not to hold. Lastly, the missing matter problem is resolved by showing that the dynamics and the mass of a spiral galaxy are better and more naturally explained by using ordinary physics with ordinary interacting matter than they are by postulating and using exotic weakly interacting dark matter.
