Our understanding of the ecology of running waters has come a long way during the past few years. From being a largely descriptive subject, with a few under tones concerned with such things as fisheries, pollution or control of blackflies, it has evolved into a discipline with hypotheses, such as the River Continuum Concept (Vannote et a/. 1980), and even a book suggesting that it offers opportunity for the testing of ecological theory (Barnes & Minshall 1983). However, perusal of the literature reveals that, although some of the very early studies were concerned with large rivers (references in Hynes 1970), the great mass of the work that has been done on running water has been on streams and small rivers, and information on larger rivers is either on such limited topics as fisheries or plankton, scattered among the journals, or not available to the general limnologist. The only exceptions are a few books in this series of publications, such as those on the Nile (Rz6ska 1976), the Volga (Morduckai Boltovskoi 1979) and the Amazon {Sioli 1984), and the recent compendium by Whitton (1984) on European rivers, among which there are a few that rate as large.

NOTA DEL EDITOR La presente compilación nace como una necesidad de practicidad y de actualización. Surge para cubrir el evidente vacío que muchas veces percibe el operador jurídico del interior provincial al ejercer su cotidiana labor. Está concebida para aquel profesional de pueblo, que en una misma jornada, en reiteradas ocasiones, debe asistir a sus clientes en ambientes diversos: ante el Juez Civil, en una audiencia Laboral, intentar resolver un conflicto en una audiencia de Mediación, o bien defender a su cliente en una indagatoria en sede Penal (y la lista sigue...). Y también, está pensada como un modo de tener al alcance de la mano toda la normativa que ha sido modificada en estos últimos años. Frecuentemente, la imposibilidad de transportar y tener acceso a la legislación aplicable durante las audiencias o en las reparticiones públicas a que se concurre, tornan menos eficiente la utilización del tiempo del operador del derecho. Este Digesto pretende suplir ese vacío, facilitarle al profesional el transporte de la normativa básica aplicable a su tarea diaria hacia donde la requiera, su fácil consulta, y acceso instantáneo a la letra de la norma. Contiene el Código Procesal Civil en su nueva redacción (2007), el Código Procesal Penal (2007), la Constitución provincial reformada en 2008, y el Reglamento de Mediación (obligatoria a partir del nuevo Código Procesal Civil). Se completa con el Código Procesal Laboral; la Ley 8.369 de Procedimientos Constitucionales; la Ley 7.061 de Proceso Administrativo; la Ley 7.060 de Trámites Administrativos; la Ley 7.046 de Aranceles de Abogados, el Reglamento de Mediación, y el Reglamento para los Juzgados Civiles y Comerciales. A esta segunda reimpresión, le hemos agregado las modificaciones al Reglamento de Mediación, por el Acuerdo 31/2011. No desconocemos la jerarquía normativa encabezada por la Constitución provincial, pero priorizamos el orden de las leyes según la frecuencia de uso que cotidianamente se suele hacer: ese es el fundamento del ordenamiento efectuado en este libro. Land degradation reduces food productivity and security, disrupts vital ecosystem functions and increases carbon emissions and vulnerability to climate change. 52 percent of the land used for agriculture worldwide is estimated to already be affected. Studies indicate that land degradation directly affects 1.5 billion people around the world. Despite the seriousness of the issue, there is still limited access to resources and planning tools for sustainable land management. Between 2015 to 2019, FAO implemented the project ''Decision support for mainstreaming and scaling up of sustainable land management (DS-SLM)’’ at a global level across 15 countries. The aim of the project was to improve access to information on land management best practices. The final evaluation examines the impacts and sustainability of the project results. What has contributed to, or hindered, the implementation of the planned activities? What has been the effect of linkages and partnerships between the project and other major country initiatives?

Este libro constituye el punto de llegada de un largo proceso de indagación situado en una pequeña localidad de la provincia argentina de Entre Ríos: Pueblo Liebig. El problema central que aborda es cómo, en un contexto de crisis, el pasado fue reinterpretado en clave de "gran familia" y actualizado en relaciones, prácticas y materialidades del presente. Para ello indaga en la construcción material y simbólica que sustentó este imaginario a lo largo de un dilatado proceso, analiza cómo operó en los discursos y prácticas de la Compañía Liebig's Extract of Meat Co. Ltd., de qué manera se constituyó en las memorias de los extrabajadores, y cómo impactó en los procesos de patrimonialización emergentes. En el análisis de estas cuestiones, el estudio reconstruye los modos en que convergieron distintas escalas "desde la microsocial de la experiencia familiar y local hasta la global o transnacional" en la estructuración de las memorias.
