In light of an unprecedented constitutional acknowledgement of diverse epistemologies and stipulation making the protection and advancement of so-called 'ancestral knowledges' a duty of the state, this research provides an analysis of the uptake of historically subalternised knowledges by the state during the government of Rafael Correa (2007-2017), as well as of the strive for epistemic justice by peoples and nationalities' organisations in the context of struggles for social change, decolonisation, and self-determination. On the basis of rich empirical material, the analysis traces state discourses and practices and mechanisms to govern 'ancestral knowledges' in the framework of the government's Knowledge Society project and delineates how leaders of peoples and nationalities' organisations struggle for the decolonisation of knowledge. This monograph will be of interest to those concerned with relations between peoples and nationalities and Latin American states, politics of recognition and collective rights, the workings of purportedly post-neoliberal governments and the possibilities and limits for alternatives to development, the struggle of peoples and nationalities' organisations for (epistemic) decolonisation, as well as ongoing (re-)conceptualisations of cosmopolitanisms against restructurations of the coloniality of knowledge and being.

Este cuarto número de la revista contiene la praxis de compañeros y compañeras de variospaíses de nuestra América. Abrimos la revista en la sección de Academia militante, con untexto que refiere a un hecho que ha marcado a la sociedad mexicana y puso en evidenciaa nivel internacional el nivel de violencia ejercido por el Estado: la desaparición de 43estudiantes de la Escuela Normal Rural (ENR) “Isidro Burgos” de Ayotzinapa y el asesinatode 6 personas, el 26 de septiembre de este año. En su artículo, Beatriz Cadena da cuentade cómo este hecho no es aislado, sino que forma parte de una política deamedrentamiento de las ENR y sus estudiantes, dejando claro que fue, y ha sido, desde elEstado que se han orquestado estos ataques. En la sección de Conferencias y Entrevistas presentamos una conferencia de CatherineWalsh que aborda de manera crítica la apropiación del concepto den interculturalidadpor parte del gobierno ecuatoriano para vaciarlo de contenido. El sustento de suargumento se encuentra en el análisis de las Unidades Educativas del Milenio, las Ciudadesdel Milenio y las propuestas de enmiendas referentes a los conocimientos colectivos. Walshmuestra que las políticas públicas del Estado ecuatoriano, a pesar de declararseplurinacional e intercultural, continúan fundamentándose en la modernización, laurbanización y la interculturalidad funcional. Esta conferencia resulta una invitación aanalizar las prácticas de los discursos de interculturalidad.
