Our world is experiencing increasingly complex social and environmental challenges. The prevailing business models and, to some extent, capitalism per se, are frequently blamed for these problems due to their neglect of social and environmental values in favour of financial returns. Within this context, social finance has attracted the attention of governments, organizations, entrepreneurs, and researchers as a means of mobilizing resources and innovation with the goal of establishing effective long-term solutions. This edited collection summarizes, discusses, and analyzes new innovative trends in social finance. It features contributions that aim to highlight emerging trends (products, tools, and processes) in social finance, present a series of case studies related to the development, deployment, and scaling of social finance innovations, offer an understanding of how non-economic externalities are being incorporated, managed, and assessed in recent innovations, reveal the disruptive potential of social finance innovations by analyzing how they are redefining mainstream finance, analyze the scales – of operation and impact – of different innovations, and explore the complex relationship between social finance and social innovation. Featuring contributions from both the research and practitioner community as well as policy actors, the book provides more than a snapshot of the current social finance field by specifically highlighting the major challenges and difficulties that require the urgent attention of policymakers and social entrepreneurs.

Navigating Big Finance And Big Technology For Global Change written by Gayle Peterson and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-27 with Business & Economics categories.

The role of big finance and technology in social change is rapidly evolving. This book examines why large financial players are entering the social sector through social finance. Drawing on empirical research, the authors analyse the opportunities this new interest and commitment presents as well as the potential harm that can be done to vulnerable people when beneficiaries are not treated as partners and the social needs of people are not placed at the centre of the investment model. This book introduces a ‘Deliberate Leadership’ framework to help big finance tackle problems with no easy solutions. The book also analyses how current technologies (including blockchain) are being used and the benefits and drawbacks of different features of these technologies from the standpoint of the beneficiary and investor. The authors derive a series of insights into the model of technology for social finance and impact investing. Written as a practical book for students alongside a field book based on an action learning methodology, this volume will be useful to those in social finance and impact investing.

Social Finance written by Garon Agrawal and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-03-31 with categories.

Social Finance: An Introduction to the Future of Finance provides an engaging, accessible overview of the relatively new field of social finance, blending insights from finance, corporate social responsibility, and social entrepreneurship. It highlights the key challenges facing social finance, while also laying out its basics and showcasing its vast opportunities. In addition to the foundation and history of social finance, topics covered include microfinance, ESGs, social impact bonds, crowdfunding, and banking. Case studies are peppered throughout, and a balance of global examples and perspectives are included. Each chapter contains digestible information and insights on the respective topic. Because this is an introductory book, there is a glossary explaining key terms for readers without a background in the subject. This will be a valuable text for students of finance, investment, social entrepreneurship, social innovation, and related areas, as well as anyone seeking to dive into the intersection of finance and social impact. It will also be useful to researchers, professionals, and policy-makers interested in social finance. Prof. Andreas Andrikopoulos, author of "The Essentials of Social Finance" "This is a text that outlines the essential features of social finance. Written with enthusiasm and vision, this text highlights the necessity of social change, delineates a paradigm shift in the financial services industry, and endorses the pursuit of sustainability as a catalyst for environmental resilience" Harrison Martindale, Educational and Finance Lead at Bumper Investing "Social Finance: An Introduction to the Future Of Finance builds the necessary foundation every young investor needs to understand the impact of their investing style and strategy. Additionally, the text will inspire you to seek the change you want to see in the world through the lens of many perspectives and practices." Dr. Suparna Kure, Co-Director at the Cooperative Food Empowerment Directive This book is my new go-to for financial literacy. It brings vision into the galaxies of young people who are figuring out what financial-adulting means in a world experiencing an elevating climate crisis, multiple financial crises, and the heels of a global pandemic. This book provides a pithy introduction to topics that are typically daunting to folks with an in-depth understanding. The authors left me with a sense of hope for our collective tomorrows--that they lie in the hands of youth leaders like the authors! My only question is, how do we integrate this book into high school curricula?
