After almost twenty years of internationalization, Chinese firms have shown their growing innovation capability through benefiting from global networks and domestic efforts. However, how Chinese firm innovation is facilitated at the international and domestic levels remains to be understood. This book investigates innovation in China from three aspects. First, starting at the international level, the effects of Chinese–foreign linkages in innovation are examined from the relationship view and the foreign ownership perspective. Second, before moving to the domestic level, the moderating role of global networks (e.g., global supply chain collaboration) is examined to understand the relationship between competition of unregistered firms and innovation of registered firms. Third, at the domestic level, innovation is studied from both upstream and downstream of the value chain: consumers’ decision-making in innovative products and strategic choices, and environment constraints for product innovation. Collectively, this book actively investigates innovation in China at international and domestic levels. It investigates how the global networks contribute to innovation in China and how domestic Chinese firms strengthen their innovation capability. The volume, thus, makes an important attempt to extend existing knowledge on this subject and provides new insights to scholars and practitioners. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of International Studies of Management & Organization.

China is trying to turn its labor, capital and resources intensive, lower added-value and export dependent growth into a sustainable innovative economy. This is changing the world’s power balance and has sparked a race between East and West in knowledge-based, high added-value economic innovation. Inspired by their extensive experience in doing business with China, the authors show how the US, the EU and China have reached a crossroad where ten battle fields decide about their future earning capacity and prosperity. Whether China will be a threat or an opportunity depends on the main players in government, public and private organizations rethinking their innovation policies and paths of business development. This books offers a new view on innovation which can be applied by corporate leaders and policy makers to get ready for the future.

The rapid speed and size of China’s economic expansion growth is well known. Several causes and reasons are commonly given for this performance, now joined by some commentary questioning how sustainable this is in the light of slowing growth rates and the need for different types and forms of growth – knowledge/innovative, services, etc – as well as demographic trends within the global context of trade frictions and finally the ‘3Cs’ of 2020 – coronavirus contagion and containment. This collection of research provides further evidence about China’s performance in terms of the role of business and management and also points to future issues. This is detailed in terms of the key areas relevant to performance, such as culture, change, leadership, innovation and knowledge. The theoretical and practical implications of the work contained herein is also noted as well as some calls for future work in key areas. Inside the Changing Business of China is a significant new contribution to the study of China’s economic growth for researchers, academics and advanced students of international business, management, leadership and innovation. This book was originally published as a special issue of Asia Pacific Business Review.

The internationalization of Chinese enterprises is one of the most notable aspects of economic globalization in the 21st century. Despite the 2008 financial crisis and weak global outbound investment, under the “go global“ initiative, Chinese outbound investment has gone from strength to strength, while also diversifying in terms of investment modalities, destinations, and industries. However, growing anti-globalization sentiment in some countries has also created new challenges for Chinese firms expanding internationally. Drawing on nearly 3000 data samples, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, this book presents unique insights into the features and patterns of Chinese enterprises’ globalization. The analysis provides a useful reference for enterprises that have already gone global and those that plan to. In particular, this book investigates challenges confronted by Chinese companies when doing business in foreign countries. It summarizes research covering three angles, namely: the current situation, causation analysis and corresponding solutions, and recommendations for firms, government agencies and other institutions. This book provides a comprehensive overview to help readers to grasp the broad picture of the international expansion of Chinese enterprises. It has important reference value for enterprises to help devise foreign investment strategy, seize opportunities, and navigate challenges in the course of globalization.

Management In The Digital Age written by Annika Steiber and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-26 with Business & Economics categories.

In this Springer Brief, the author introduces how Chinese firms are successfully using their own variants of the 'Silicon Valley Approach' to management. The author begins the discussion by deliberating on the extent to which management models need to be re-invented. A fundamentally new approach is then introduced, which already exists and is proving itself in practice at some of Silicon Valley ́s most dynamic firms. The author finds that the Chinese management models, in comparison, may be even more advanced. If true, this could have profound implications for managers everywhere. The author acknowledges that no management model fails (or succeeds) every time. Skeptics can point to bigbureaucratic firms that continue to prosper, as well as to radical innovators that have gone under. This book brings to light the need that has emerged for a model that will give companies their best chances of thriving amid the VUCA whirlwind. A combination of evidence and informed opinion indicates the old management model has run its course.
