Every book should have a motivation and a goal. We would like to share with our readers some reasons which have led us to allot a considerable part of our time and effort to the production of this monograph. We believe this book to originate from two 'godfathers'. The first took the form of the following, apparently straightforward, problem posed to us in 1979 by Horton L. Sorkin (at that time in the Department of Accounting, University of Maryland at College Park). 'There are N accounts, D with mistakes and N - D mistake-free. The probability that an accountant detects that an account is erroneous is p (

Frontiers In Statistical Quality Control 11 written by Sven Knoth and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-04-24 with Computers categories.
The main focus of this edited volume is on three major areas of statistical quality control: statistical process control (SPC), acceptance sampling and design of experiments. The majority of the papers deal with statistical process control, while acceptance sampling and design of experiments are also treated to a lesser extent. The book is organized into four thematic parts, with Part I addressing statistical process control. Part II is devoted to acceptance sampling. Part III covers the design of experiments, while Part IV discusses related fields. The twenty-three papers in this volume stem from The 11th International Workshop on Intelligent Statistical Quality Control, which was held in Sydney, Australia from August 20 to August 23, 2013. The event was hosted by Professor Ross Sparks, CSIRO Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics, North Ryde, Australia and was jointly organized by Professors S. Knoth, W. Schmid and Ross Sparks. The papers presented here were carefully selected and reviewed by the scientific program committee, before being revised and adapted for this volume.

Nonclinical Statistics For Pharmaceutical And Biotechnology Industries written by Lanju Zhang and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-13 with Medical categories.
This book serves as a reference text for regulatory, industry and academic statisticians and also a handy manual for entry level Statisticians. Additionally it aims to stimulate academic interest in the field of Nonclinical Statistics and promote this as an important discipline in its own right. This text brings together for the first time in a single volume a comprehensive survey of methods important to the nonclinical science areas within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Specifically the Discovery and Translational sciences, the Safety/Toxiology sciences, and the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls sciences. Drug discovery and development is a long and costly process. Most decisions in the drug development process are made with incomplete information. The data is rife with uncertainties and hence risky by nature. This is therefore the purview of Statistics. As such, this book aims to introduce readers to important statistical thinking and its application in these nonclinical areas. The chapters provide as appropriate, a scientific background to the topic, relevant regulatory guidance, current statistical practice, and further research directions.

Composite Sampling written by Ganapati P. Patil and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-12-25 with Medical categories.
Sampling consists of selection, acquisition, and quantification of a part of the population. While selection and acquisition apply to physical sampling units of the population, quantification pertains only to the variable of interest, which is a particular characteristic of the sampling units. A sampling procedure is expected to provide a sample that is representative with respect to some specified criteria. Composite sampling, under idealized conditions, incurs no loss of information for estimating the population means. But an important limitation to the method has been the loss of information on individual sample values, such as, the extremely large value. In many of the situations where individual sample values are of interest or concern, composite sampling methods can be suitably modified to retrieve the information on individual sample values that may be lost due to compositing. This book presents statistical solutions to issues that arise in the context of applications of composite sampling.

Measurement Error In Nonlinear Models written by Raymond J. Carroll and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-07-06 with Mathematics categories.
This monograph provides an up-to-date discussion of analysis strategies for regression problems in which predictor variables are measured with errors. The analysis of nonlinear regression models includes generalized linear models, transform-both-sides models and quasilikelihood and variance function problems. The text concentrates on the general ideas and strategies of estimation and inference rather than being concerned with a specific problem. Measurement error occurs in many fields, such as biometry, epidemiology and economics. In particular, the book contains a large number of epidemiological examples. An outline of strategies for handling progressively more difficult problems is also provided.
