Die Mitte ist ein vielbeschworener Zustand und ein Ideal, dass uns unerreichbar nah vor Augen steht. Wir möchten gleichzeitig besonnen sein, eine ausgewogene Meinung haben und uns in der Mitte der Gesellschaft bewegen – denn dies verheißt Anerkennung. Gleichzeitig fürchten wir uns unbestimmt davor, mittelmäßig zu sein. Allein aus diesen kurzen Ideen heraus wird deutlich, dass die Mitte bei aller Sehnsucht nach ihr etwas Vulnerables ist, das wir vermutlich nicht so einfach erreichen können. Sie ist zudem vielfältiger, es gibt nicht schlicht die eine Mitte. Wir suchen unsere innere Mitte in der Beziehung zu Gott und/oder den Menschen, wir jagen der Mitte der Gemeinschaft der Glaubenden hinterher und möchten zugleich die Mitte der Gesellschaft als solidarische und freie Menschen erhalten wissen. Dabei ist es nicht nur ein Gefühl – diese Mitte der Gesellschaft, so sie denn als existent angenommen wird, wird immer leerer. Wir erleben eine zunehmende Polarisierung, egal ob es um Liberalismus oder Konservativismus, um die Radikalisierung in Politik oder Religion geht, ob um Meinung oder Wissenschaftlichkeit. Ein gutes Maß scheint nur noch schwer auszuhandeln zu sein. Viele Menschen haben nicht mehr die Möglichkeit, Muße oder auch nicht die Geduld oder die Chance, sich um ein sorgfältiges Abwägen zu mühen und erliegen so der Versuchung schneller Antworten. In dieser Ausgabe der Inspiration gehen die Autorinnen und Autoren verschiedenen Aspekten der Mitte nach: der geistlichen Mitte, der Mitte von sich versammelnder Gemeinde, der gesellschaftlichen Mitte und der Mitte als Raum. Wir wünschen Ihnen eine inspirierende Leseerfahrung!

Zunächst sind wir Ihnen etwas schuldig. Die Inspiration ist in den vergangenen Monaten sprichwörtlich durch schwere See gefahren. Durch Corona und in den Nachwehen des Flutereignisses von 2021 ergab es sich, dass beide Redakteurinnen zeitgleich durch eine langwierige Erkrankung aus dem Rennen geworfen wurden und so die Arbeit an der Zeitschrift nicht weitergeführt werden konnte. Dies tut uns sehr leid und wir sind uns im Klaren, dass Sie sich vermutlich schon gefragt haben, ob hier noch etwas zu erwarten ist. Es kam wieder anders. Der Tod von Thomas Häußner, Verlagsleiter des Echter Verlags, hat dann für zusätzliche Verzögerung gesorgt. So kommt es, dass Sie in diesem Jahr zwei Doppelausgaben erwarten dürfen, von denen Sie die erste nun endlich in den Händen halten. Wir hoffen, dass sie Ihnen gefällt. Das vorliegende Heft befasst sich mit den Themen Ohnmacht und Ermächtigung. Die Machtlosigkeit – Wirklichkeit und Wahrnehmung von Menschen, Erfahrungen von Angst und Erwartung, von Widerstand und Verzweiflung. Aber dabei muss es und soll es nicht bleiben. Denn schon in den biblischen Erzählungen geht es oft darum, dass Menschen aus ihrer erfahrenen Ohnmacht, aus inneren und äußeren Zwängen herausgeführt werden. Aber nicht, um in eine neue Abhängigkeit zu geraten und einfach eine Ohnmacht gegen die andere auszutauschen. Gott schenkt Menschen das Rüstzeug zur Freiheit. Gerade heute, wo sich Konflikte und Bedrohungsszenarien in so vielen gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhängen zeigen, sehen wir es als wichtig an, dieser Form der Ermächtigung nachzugehen. Im Ringen um eine lebensförderliche Spiritualität, um eine eigene und erwachsene Gottesbeziehung trotz der offenkundigen Missstände in Kirche und Gesellschaft muss Macht und Ohnmacht kritisch reflektiert werden. Einer christlichen Lebenskunst und Spiritualität nachzugehen, die Ohnmacht wahrnimmt, Ermächtigung und Freiheit in den Mittelpunkt rückt und Macht und Mächte von verschiedenen Seiten beleuchtet, möchten wir in dieser Ausgabe Raum geben.
