An award-winning, multi-genre writer grapples with the pandemic, death of George Floyd, and other crises of our times in gnomic poems written from inside the purgatory (and sudden revelations) of quarantine. Writing from and toward “the endless desire / to be at home in the world,” Sarah Ruhl wrote Love Poems in Quarantine to mark the passage of time when all familiar landmarks disappeared. From the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic, to the murder of George Floyd, to months of simultaneous quarantine and protest, this is—in free verse and form, lamentation and meditation—a book of days, a survival kit for spiritual malady. These poems find small solace in domestic absurdities. Even in global crisis, there is the laundry. The dog rolls in something putrid, the child interrupts a Zoom meeting, and dinner must get made, again and again. Using language to travel and touch when bodies could not, Ruhl has drawn with great care a portrait of a year unlike any other in history.

An anthology of unedited short stories, poems, and articles from around the world during the 2020 Pandemic. 'With Love, Comes Hope' offers a unique glimpse into the lives of ordinary people, as they coped, suffered and inspired others; in this unprecedented time, the population of our planet found common cause. Frontline and key workers everywhere ventured out to save lives and protect the vulnerable, supplying and delivering food alongside other essential services, like teaching, transport, rubbish collection; all workers valiantly striving in difficult circumstances. Vast numbers of people self-isolated for weeks or months and adhered to new hand cleaning and face covering regimes. Most of the world experienced a lengthy period of lockdown and economies were mothballed. Around the world, governments responded differently with greater or lesser success, and the lives of the population were impacted in many different ways. There was large-scale loss of life, personal devastation, and there were enduring and serious health compromises. Many lost loved ones, families were cast into tragedy, jobs were lost and businesses failed. But there was also profound inspiration, people doing good, helping neighbours, friends and those, especially, in need of protection. Doctors, nurses, carers and support workers - cleaners, cooks, security people, heroically put their own lives in danger to care for the sick, often at the expense of being with their own families. There were fundraisers who walked their gardens or climbed their stairs, replicating the distance or height of a marathon or mountain, raising money for those in need or to support our health services. Communities sang together from balconies, rooftops and terraces, applauded together on doorsteps, pavements, in gardens, to honour doctors, nurses and other key workers in hospitals and care homes. The Internet provided virtual meeting rooms to replace personal contact for isolated friends and families, home-workers, school lessons, news and entertainment. The streets were empty, the skies cleared, bird song was heard, nature ventured to the very edge of cities and around the globe the environment was afforded unprecedented respite. In short, 2020 has been a year like no other in human history. There have been pandemics before with even higher casualties; but we have never experienced a pandemic in such a connected society. The human race may not have responded as well as it could but for the first time, there was international communication and, to a very large extent, cooperation. This book is one such example; it shares the voices of people from many countries. It is a collection of personal accounts, poems, stories and reminiscences from around our beautiful planet and illustrates the innate kindness of people in desperate times and a shared wish for something better for all our futures - a common thread in this volume, 'With Love, Comes Hope: Stories and Inspiration during the 2020 Pandemic.' 100% of the royalties will be donated to an international humanitarian charity called Bridge2, based in the Channel Island of Guernsey. The contributions came from the following countries: Bangladesh, Australia, Brazil, United Kingdom, Spain, South Africa, Israel, Greece, Canada, Italy, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, China (inc. Hong Kong), India, Romania, Japan, Haiti, Denmark, The Philippines, The Netherlands, Saint Helena, Guernsey, New Zealand, Palestine, Germany, Russia, France.

Love in the Time of Corona is a product of our times, inspired by the mental and emotional struggles associated with fear, uncertainty, and the isolation experienced during quarantine. It is also an exploration of love, loss, loneliness, and the turmoil that springs from lack of communication, hopelessness, and alienation. However, the underlying themes are those of hope, resiliency, and reconciliation. Love transcends to a realm where the soul’s mere desire is for union, not just with fellow human beings, but also with oneself and with Nature.

In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic upended the world. Love Too Can Spread is Ari Satok's reflection in poetry on how it changed our lives. Capturing the strange and surreal times that the pandemic brought with it, this poetry collection tells the stories of how we filled our days when nothing was as it had been before. With poems about everything from grocery shopping to grief to Grandma's never-ending challenges with Zoom, this collection brings together the serious and the light-hearted, meditating on the things that truly matter when so much else falls away. Love Too Can Spread reminds us that even in profoundly isolating times, we are not alone and finds in the horror of the pandemic lessons we all can learn on how to deal with the most difficult of circumstances with grace, humor and an open heart.
