Integral Equations A Practical Treatment From Spectral Theory To Applications written by David Porter and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990-09-28 with Mathematics categories.
This book gives a rigorous and practical treatment of integral equations. These are significant because they occur in many problems in mathematics, physics and engineering and they offer a powerful (sometimes the only) technique for solving these problems. The book aims to tackle the solution of integral equations using a blend of abstract 'structural' results and more direct, down-to-earth mathematics. The interplay between these two approaches is a central feature of the text and it allows a thorough account to be given of many of the types of integral equation which arise in application areas. Since it is not always possible to find explicit solutions of the problems posed, much attention is devoted to obtaining qualitative information and approximations to the solutions, with the associated error estimates. This treatment is intended for final year mathematics undergraduates, postgraduates and research workers in application areas such as numerical analysis and fluid mechanics.

Integral methods are among the most powerful techniques for investigating real-life phenomena translated into mathematical models. This book contains a number of contributions to the development and application of such techniques in the context of linear and nonlinear problems in elasticity, fluid dynamics and mathematical physics. The procedures featured in the volume include vortex methods, analytic and numerical methods, hybrid numerical schemes, integral equation approaches, and conservation laws. The articles were presented by their authors at the Third International Conference on Integral Methods in Science and Engineering, IMSE-93, 27-29 August 1993, at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan.

This second edition integrates the newly developed methods with classical techniques to give both modern and powerful approaches for solving integral equations. It provides a comprehensive treatment of linear and nonlinear Fredholm and Volterra integral equations of the first and second kinds. The materials are presented in an accessible and straightforward manner to readers, particularly those from non-mathematics backgrounds. Numerous well-explained applications and examples as well as practical exercises are presented to guide readers through the text. Selected applications from mathematics, science and engineering are investigated by using the newly developed methods. This volume consists of nine chapters, pedagogically organized, with six chapters devoted to linear integral equations, two chapters on nonlinear integral equations, and the last chapter on applications. It is intended for scholars and researchers, and can be used for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in applied mathematics, science and engineering.Click here for solutions manual.

Mild Differentiability Conditions For Newton S Method In Banach Spaces written by José Antonio Ezquerro Fernandez and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-03 with Mathematics categories.
In this book the authors use a technique based on recurrence relations to study the convergence of the Newton method under mild differentiability conditions on the first derivative of the operator involved. The authors’ technique relies on the construction of a scalar sequence, not majorizing, that satisfies a system of recurrence relations, and guarantees the convergence of the method. The application is user-friendly and has certain advantages over Kantorovich’s majorant principle. First, it allows generalizations to be made of the results obtained under conditions of Newton-Kantorovich type and, second, it improves the results obtained through majorizing sequences. In addition, the authors extend the application of Newton’s method in Banach spaces from the modification of the domain of starting points. As a result, the scope of Kantorovich’s theory for Newton’s method is substantially broadened. Moreover, this technique can be applied to any iterative method. This book is chiefly intended for researchers and (postgraduate) students working on nonlinear equations, as well as scientists in general with an interest in numerical analysis.

Fundamentals Of Fluid Solid Interactions written by Xiaodong (Sheldon) Wang and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-08-13 with Science categories.
This book focuses on the computational and theoretical approaches to the coupling of fluid mechanics and solids mechanics. In particular, nonlinear dynamical systems are introduced to the handling of complex fluid-solid interaction systems, For the past few decades, many terminologies have been introduced to this field, namely, flow-induced vibration, aeroelasticity, hydroelasticity, fluid-structure interaction, fluid-solid interaction, and more recently multi-physics problems. Moreover, engineering applications are distributed within different disciplines, such as nuclear, civil, aerospace, ocean, chemical, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Regrettably, while each particular subject is by itself very extensive, it has been difficult for a single book to cover in a reasonable depth and in the mean time to connect various topics. In light of the current multidisciplinary research need in nanotechnology and bioengineering, there is an urgent need for books to provide such a linkage and to lay a foundation for more specialized fields. - Interdisciplinary across all types of engineering - Comprehensive study of fluid-solid interaction - Discusses complex system dynamics derived from interactive systems - Provides mathematic modeling of biological systems

Stochastic Processes In Cell Biology written by Paul C. Bressloff and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-10 with Mathematics categories.
This book develops the theory of continuous and discrete stochastic processes within the context of cell biology. In the second edition the material has been significantly expanded, particularly within the context of nonequilibrium and self-organizing systems. Given the amount of additional material, the book has been divided into two volumes, with volume I mainly covering molecular processes and volume II focusing on cellular processes. A wide range of biological topics are covered in the new edition, including stochastic ion channels and excitable systems, molecular motors, stochastic gene networks, genetic switches and oscillators, epigenetics, normal and anomalous diffusion in complex cellular environments, stochastically-gated diffusion, active intracellular transport, signal transduction, cell sensing, bacterial chemotaxis, intracellular pattern formation, cell polarization, cell mechanics, biological polymers and membranes, nuclear structure and dynamics, biological condensates, molecular aggregation and nucleation, cellular length control, cell mitosis, cell motility, cell adhesion, cytoneme-based morphogenesis, bacterial growth, and quorum sensing. The book also provides a pedagogical introduction to the theory of stochastic and nonequilibrium processes – Fokker Planck equations, stochastic differential equations, stochastic calculus, master equations and jump Markov processes, birth-death processes, Poisson processes, first passage time problems, stochastic hybrid systems, queuing and renewal theory, narrow capture and escape, extreme statistics, search processes and stochastic resetting, exclusion processes, WKB methods, large deviation theory, path integrals, martingales and branching processes, numerical methods, linear response theory, phase separation, fluctuation-dissipation theorems, age-structured models, and statistical field theory. This text is primarily aimed at graduate students and researchers working in mathematical biology, statistical and biological physicists, and applied mathematicians interested in stochastic modeling. Applied probabilists should also find it of interest. It provides significant background material in applied mathematics and statistical physics, and introduces concepts in stochastic and nonequilibrium processes via motivating biological applications. The book is highly illustrated and contains a large number of examples and exercises that further develop the models and ideas in the body of the text. It is based on a course that the author has taught at the University of Utah for many years.
