Tourism And Biopolitics In Pandemic Times written by Maartje Roelofsen and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-01-30 with Social Science categories.

This edited collection brings together interventions on the geographies of tourism in pandemic times approached from a biopolitical perspective. Whilst the “management of bodies” has always been a constitutive part of tourism and its spatialities, the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the emergence of entirely new “states of exception” and emergency regimes, geared towards tight restrictions and control over the mobility and embodied practices of millions of travelers and tourists. Debates in tourism over the “politics of life”, now more than ever, ought to concern health and wellbeing for both individuals and selected populations, not in the least because tourism has provided in many instances the socio-spatial conditions for the virus to spread. This book intends to show how a biopolitical analytical framework may provide a set of insights and critical perspectives that are key to the understanding of contemporary tourism practices and regimes of mobility, security, and in/exclusion – particularly in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Community Empowerment Sustainable Cities And Transformative Economies written by Taha Chaiechi and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-12 with Political Science categories.

This edited volume presents the conference papers from the 1st International Conference on Business, Economics, Management, and Sustainability (BEMAS), organized by the Centre for International Trade and Business in Asia (CITBA) at James Cook University. This book argues that the orthodox methods of external risks, climate change adaptation plans, and sustainable economic growth in cities are no longer adequate. These methods, so far, have not only ignored the ongoing structural changes associated with economic development but also failed to account for evolving industries’ composition and the emergence of new comparative advantages and skills. Specifically, this book looks at the vulnerable communities and exposed areas, particularly in urban areas, that tend to experience higher susceptibility to external risks (such as climate change, natural disasters, and public health emergencies) have been largely ignored in incremental adaptation plans. Vulnerable communities and areas not only require different adaptive responses to climate risk but also possess unlocked adaptive capacity that can motivate different patterns of sustainable development to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda. It is essential, therefore, to view transformative growth and fundamental reorientation of economic resources as integral parts of the solution. Social disorganisation and vulnerability are other undesired outcomes of the unpredictable and widespread external economic shocks. This is due to a sudden and tough competition between members of society to acquire precious resources, most of which may be depleted during unprecedented events such as natural disasters or pandemics resulting in an even more chaotic and disorganised conditions.

Distance learning and remote learning have been developing options within the eLearning and talent training realms for over two decades, yet distance learning has become a significant reality within the past few months, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic has forever impacted the K-12, higher education, and adult training and talent development workforce solutions. Within the rapid shift into remote and distance learning environments, the curricular design and instructional design are understood as necessary. However, there is a need to understand aspects around social learning within eLearning environments. It is important to understand the opportunity of moving towards transformative social learning environmental engagement and experiences within distance and remote learning environments to improve the ability to understand social learning in eLearning environments. eLearning Engagement in a Transformative Social Learning Environment focuses on supporting and enhancing remote and distance learning (eLearning) instructional experiences, discusses the strategic role of social learning within eLearning environments, and enhances levels of engagement, transformative learning, and talent attainment environments. This book provides insights and support towards policies and procedures within instructional and training decision making around social learning needs and support. The chapters will explore social learning opportunities and support, modeling social learning engagement, communities of practice, and instructional processes of eLearning. The intended audience is teachers, curriculum developers, instructional designers, professionals, researchers, practitioners, and students working in the field of teaching, training, and talent development.
