Rather than being a book about ‘development’ per se, this work, first published in 1975, is instead a book about ideas about development, designed for those drawn by a concern over social injustice into the development field. In a selective review of theory, which gives particular emphasis to the spatial dimension in Western, Marxist and neo-Marxist thought, Harold Brookfield traces the evolution of ideas about world inequality and the problem of development from the days before the ‘underdeveloped countries’ were considered to be a major problem, through the years dominated by ‘economic growth’, to the more searching approaches of the contemporary era. The central argument of the book is that development is a ‘totality’, which cannot properly be understood by separation into parts. The ‘developed’ and ‘underdeveloped’ countries constitute one interdependent system, and change in one cannot be understood without consideration of the other.

This book reviews methods of conceptualizing, measuring, and analyzing interdependent data in developmental and behavioral sciences. Quantitative and developmental experts describe best practices for modeling interdependent data that stem from interactions within families, relationships, and peer groups, for example. Complex models for analyzing longitudinal data, such as growth curves and time series, are also presented. Many contributors are innovators of the techniques and all are able to clearly explain the methodologies and their practical problems including issues of measurement, missing data, power and sample size, and the specific limitations of each method. Featuring a balance between analytic strategies and applications, the book addresses: The Actor-Partner Interdependence Model for analyzing influence between two individuals The Intraclass Correlational Approach for analyzing distinguishable roles (parent-child) or exchangeable (same-sex) dyadic data The Social Relations Model for analyzing group interdependency Social Network Analysis approaches for relationships between individuals This book is intended for graduate students and researchers across the developmental, social, behavioral, and educational sciences. It is an excellent research guide and a valuable resource for advanced methods courses.

Dependence And Interdependence In Education Rle Edu A written by Keith Watson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-31 with Education categories.

This volume provides an international perspective on educational dependency in considering both theories and actual developments throughout the world. Some less developed countries, in expanding their education systems, have emulated Western academic-style systems and have increased their dependence on Western models in various respects including examination validation. Others have deliberately avoided this path and have experimented with systems more ‘relevant’ to development, often in a radical way. At a theoretical level, Marxist and neo-Marxist development theorists argue that education systems dependent on the West are evidence of economic dependency and confirmation of Marxist development theories; while others argue that the evidence suggests an interdependent world and that dependency theories do not apply in education.

Globalization And Technology written by Rajneesh Narula and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-03-03 with Political Science categories.

In this book Rajneesh Narula examines the interdependence of globalization and technological innovation at two levels: first, between locations, by examining the role of cross-border initiatives in the innovation process; second, between corporate entities, by studying the dynamics of inter-firm R&D collaboration. Examines the international aspect of the interdependence of globalization and technology. Explores the role of cross-border interdependence in the innovation process, as well as interdependence between firms. Reveals an interesting paradox: locations and firms are increasingly interdependent through supranational organisations and the flow of investments, technologies, ideas, and people; but knowledge creation suffers from ‘inertia’ and remains concentrated in a few locations. Draws on a wide variety of data at the firm and national level in the sphere of R&D and technological innovation. Spells out important lessons for both policy makers and managers on industrial policy as well as the organisation of research and development by firms.
