The present set of lectures and tutorial reviews deals with various topical aspects related to instabilities of interfacial processes and driven flows from both the theoretical and experimental point of views. New research has been spurred by demands for many applications in material sciences (melting, solidification, electro deposition), biomedical engineering and processing in microgravity environments. This book is intended as both a modern source of reference for researchers in the field as well as an introduction to postgraduate students and non-specialists from related areas.

Interfacial Transport Processes And Rheology written by Howard Brenner and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-22 with Science categories.
This textbook is designed to provide the theory, methods of measurement, and principal applications of the expanding field of interfacial hydrodynamics. It is intended to serve the research needs of both academic and industrial scientists, including chemical or mechanical engineers, material and surface scientists, physical chemists, chemical and biophysicists, rheologists, physiochemical hydrodynamicists, and applied mathematicians (especially those with interests in viscous fluid mechanics and continuum mechanics). As a textbook it provides materials for a one- or two-semester graduate-level course in interfacial transport processes. It may also be noted that, while separate practical and theoretical subdivisions of material have been introduced, a kind of cross-emphasis is often stressed: (i) to the academic scientist, or the importance of understanding major applications of interfacial transport; and (ii) to the industrial scientist, of the importance of understanding the underlying theory.

Interfacial Transport Phenomena written by John C. Slattery and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-17 with Science categories.
Transport phenomena is used here to descril>e momentum, energy, mass, and entropy transfer (Bird et al. 1960, 1980). It includes thermodynamies, a special case of which is thermostatics. Interfacial transport phenomena refers to momentum, energy , mass, and entropy transfer within the immediate neighborhood of a phase interface, including the thermodynamies of the interface. In terms of qualitative physical observations, this is a very old field. Pliny the EIder (Gaius Plinius Secundus, 23-79 A.D.; Pliny 1938) described divers who released small quantities of oil from their mouths, in order to damp capillary ripples on the ocean surface and in this way provide more uniform lighting for their work. Similar stories were retold by Benjamin Franklin, who conducted experiments of his own in England (V an Doren 1938). In terms of analysis, this is a generally young field. Surface thermostatics developed relatively early, starting with Gibbs (1948) and continuing with important contributions by many others (see Chapter 5).
Thermo Fluid Dynamics Of Two Phase Flow

Thermo Fluid Dynamics Of Two Phase Flow written by Mamoru Ishii and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-09-28 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book is intended to be an introduction to the theory of thermo-fluid dynamics of two-phase flow for graduate students, scientists and practicing engineers seriously involved in the subject. It can be used as a text book at the graduate level courses focused on the two-phase flow in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, as well as a basic reference book for two-phase flow formulations for researchers and engineers involved in solving multiphase flow problems in various technological fields. The principles of single-phase flow fluid dynamics and heat transfer are relatively well understood, however two-phase flow thermo-fluid dynamics is an order of magnitude more complicated subject than that of the sing- phase flow due to the existence of moving and deformable interface and its interactions with the two phases. However, in view of the practical importance of two-phase flow in various modem engineering technologies related to nuclear energy, chemical engineering processes and advanced heat transfer systems, significant efforts have been made in recent years to develop accurate general two-phase formulations, mechanistic models for interfacial transfer and interfacial structures, and computational methods to solve these predictive models.

Fluid Dynamics At Interfaces written by Wei Shyy and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-09-28 with Science categories.
Many of the significant issues in fluid dynamics occur at interfaces, that is, at the boundaries between differing fluids or between fluids and solids. These issues are important in areas ranging from aircraft flight, to the flow of blood in the heart, to chemical vapour deposition. The subject is an area of active research and development, owing to improved analytical, experimental, and computational techniques. This book describes research and applications in interfacial fluid dynamics and stability. It is organized around five topics: Benard and thermocapillary instabilities, shear and pressure induced instabilities, waves and dispersions, multiphase systems, and complex flows. Chapters have been contributed by internationally recognized experts, both theoreticians and experimentalists. Because of the range and importance of topics discussed, this book will interest a broad audience of graduate students and researchers in mechanical, aerospace, materials, and chemical engineering, as well as in applied mathematics and physics.

Micro And Nanoscale Fluid Mechanics written by Brian J. Kirby and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07-26 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This text focuses on the physics of fluid transport in micro- and nanofabricated liquid-phase systems, with consideration of gas bubbles, solid particles, and macromolecules. This text was designed with the goal of bringing together several areas that are often taught separately - namely, fluid mechanics, electrodynamics, and interfacial chemistry and electrochemistry - with a focused goal of preparing the modern microfluidics researcher to analyse and model continuum fluid mechanical systems encountered when working with micro- and nanofabricated devices. This text serves as a useful reference for practising researchers but is designed primarily for classroom instruction. Worked sample problems are included throughout to assist the student, and exercises at the end of each chapter help facilitate class learning.
