Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,0, Technische Universität Berlin (Institut für LIteraturwissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Sebalds Prosa changiert zwischen Fakt und Fiktion ebenso wie zwischen fotografischem Erzählen und akribischer Geschichtsschreibung. Der Autor schafft es in seiner Rekonstruktion von Vergangenheit, der im 20. Jahrhundert mehr und mehr in Zweifel gezogenen Fotografie eine neue Relevanz als Medium der Erinnerung im literarischen Text zuzuweisen. Die Fiktion als Gedächtnisort erweist sich bei diesem Projekt als die der Zerbrechlichkeit des Individuums Raum gebende Form eines Erzählens, das sich auch als eine Kontemplation der Menschheitsgeschichte der Zerstörung und als ein Festhalten an der Hoffnung auf Einsicht und Umkehr versteht. Diese Arbeit untersucht die fotografischen Abbildungen in ihrem Verhältnis zum Erzähltext in den drei Prosawerken Schwindel. Gefühle., Die Ausgewanderten und Austerlitz. Der Idee liegt die Tatsache zu Grunde, dass von ihnen eine Verweiskraft und Konstituierung im Gesamtwerk ausgeht, die in den Betrachtungen von Einzelwerken in der Forschung oft nur marginal zur Sprache kommt. Die vielfältigen Verbindungswege zwischen dem Erzähltext der drei Prosawerke, der zwischen dokumentarisch und fiktional schwankt, und der Fotografie zwischen banaler Tautologie und intertextuellem Verwirrspiel gaben den Anstoß zu dieser werkübergreifenden Untersuchung. Sebalds Prosawerke werden dem neuen Genre „Foto-Text“ bzw. „Ikonotext“ zugeordnet, demnach tragen zwei unterschiedliche Medien zur Fiktionalität des Gesamtwerks bei. Im ersten Abschnitt werden fiktionale und fiktive Erzählstrategien auf der textlichen Ebene untersucht. Nach einem kurzen Abriss über den Gegenstand Foto-Text und bisherige Forschungstexte zum Foto bei Sebald werden verschiedene Aspekte beleuchtet, die sowohl die Fotografie als Medium als auch das Foto in Sebalds Text betreffen. Die Fotografie scheint dem Streben des Sebaldschen Textes nach Authentizität zunächst Nachdruck zu verleihen. In ihrer neuen, zusätzlichen Eigenschaft als Textbegleiter aber erhalten und verlieren die Fotos neue Dimensionen der Unschuld bzw. des Beteiligtseins. In Bezug auf die Fiktionalisierung des Ikonotextes erlangt das eingebettete Foto aufgrund der Eigenschaft, einen unwiederbringlichen Augenblick im historischen Zeitgefüge festzuhalten, eine besondere Stellung, die sich im Text niederschlägt und an vielen Stellen ihre textliche Entsprechung findet. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt in der Betrachtung von Sebalds Fotografien bildet die Seite der Rezeption.

Adornos andererseits. Die Zusammenschau dieser auf den ersten Blick distinkten und von der bisherigen Sebald-Forschung weitgehend isoliert betrachteten Einflüsse ermöglicht eine präzise Bestimmung der Geschichtspoetik W.G. Sebalds, die zwischen historiographischer Repräsentation und literarischer Imagination changiert.
