The authors address how teachers position their professional responsibilities and learning in relation to the institutional structure, internationalization agenda and policy fields in which their profession is embedded by drawing on both empirical evidence and key concepts and models of teacher professional learning. The Changing Landscape Of International Schooling written by Tristan Bunnell and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-06-27 with Education categories.

The number of English-medium international schools that deliver their curriculum wholly or partly in the English language reportedly reached 6,000 in January 2012. It is anticipated this number will rise to over 11,000 schools by 2022, employing over 500,000 English-speaking teachers. The number of children being taught in these schools reportedly reached 3 million in March 2012. Alongside this phenomenal growth the landscape of international schooling has changed fundamentally, moving away from largely serving the children of the expat and globally mobile business community and Embassies, towards serving the ‘local’ children of the wealthy and emerging middle-class. This has been reflected in the shift away from non-profit ownership by the school community towards ownership by for-profit companies and proprietors. In this book, Tristan Bunnell explores the changing landscape of international schooling and discusses the implications of these changes, both in terms of theoretically conceptualizing the scale, nature and purpose of the field, and in terms of practically serving and administering the growing industry that international education is becoming. The Changing Landscape of International Schooling will be worthwhile reading for researchers, academics and students of international schooling, leaders and teachers in international schools, and those interested in the broader development of international education.

"Social Justice and International Education: Research, Practice, and Perspectives brings together a group of educators, scholars, and practitioners in the field of international education who are doing important and innovative work promoting social justice, confronting inequality, and fostering social responsibility in a global context. The book does not operate on a singular definition of social justice; rather, the authors describe their own working definition and how it has guided their international education work. Divided into three parts, the book explores social justice research, social justice in practice, and different perspectives from practitioners across the field"--

Teaching Practices In A Global Learning Environment written by Hanne Tange and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-15 with Political Science categories.

This book examines teaching practices in international education, focusing on two significant meanings of the notion of ‘practice’: the concrete activities used by university lecturers and the role of education as a platform for transferring particular skills or approaches. In addition to discussing techniques involved in programme design, curricular development, course activities, multicultural teamwork and examination, the author explores the idea of the lecturer as an actor communicating practices, considering the role and responsibility of academic staff in the development of successful international education. With attention to the importance of the context of internationalisation, the book draws on research from two major research projects, presenting extensive interview material with teaching staff engaged in international education and projects of internationalisation. Combining the approaches of ‘pragmatism’ and practice theory, as developed by Bourdieu and Schatzki, among others, Teaching Practices in a Global Learning Environment addresses themes including the international-ness of academic disciplines, the biographies of international educators, and language issues emerging in international education. As such, it will appeal to scholars across the social sciences and policy makers with interests in pedagogy, internationalisation and higher education.
