Probability Models In Reliability Analysis written by S. P. Mukherjee and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-01 with Mathematics categories.

This book delves into the fundamental theoretical aspects of reliability analysis, focusing on various probabilistic models. These models are essential for representing random variations in underlying variables such as time-to-failure, the number of failures between consecutive repairs and similar metrics. The calculation, estimation and prediction of reliability all hinge on using appropriate probability models. The book introduces various models beneficial for researchers in the field of reliability. It also provides a comprehensive overview of the available models, highlighting their distinctive features and practical applications in a narrative format. The content of the book is designed to appeal to a broad readership. Students and researchers in the field of reliability analysis will find a comprehensive yet easily understandable summary of models applicable to their data sets of interest. It should be noted, however, As stated clearly in the preface, this book does not illustrate applications of the models discussed in terms of real-life data.

Angular Statistics written by A V Dattatreya Rao and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-12-20 with Mathematics categories.

Directional data arise in the form of circular / semicircular / axial, symmetric / asymmetric, uni / bimodal data, in practical situations of varied fields. For the purpose of modeling such kind of data sets, the data scientists found that existing models as inadequate. As there is paucity of angular models, and to fill the gap, this book is designed at constructing new angular models with the existing techniques and to develop new tools of constructing angular models with an application to control charts in angular models. This book is planned to cover the following topics in nine chapters Wrapped, stereographic and offset circular models Construction of angular models using Rising Sun function, positive definite sequences, discretization and through differential approach Extemporaneous Semicircular / arc and asymmetric l – axial models Choice of angular models as an inferential aspect and construction of control charts for angular data as an application are presented. This graduate level book will be useful for data scientists, researchers and research students of Statistics and allied fields.

Outliers play an important, though underestimated, role in control engineering. Traditionally they are unseen and neglected. In opposition, industrial practice gives frequent examples of their existence and their mostly negative impacts on the control quality. The origin of outliers is never fully known. Some of them are generated externally to the process (exogenous), like for instance erroneous observations, data corrupted by control systems or the effect of human intervention. Such outliers appear occasionally with some unknow probability shifting real value often to some strange and nonsense value. They are frequently called deviants, anomalies or contaminants. In most cases we are interested in their detection and removal. However, there exists the second kind of outliers. Quite often strange looking data observations are not artificial data occurrences. They may be just representatives of the underlying generation mechanism being inseparable internal part of the process (endogenous outliers). In such a case they are not wrong and should be treated with cautiousness, as they may include important information about the dynamic nature of the process. As such they cannot be neglected nor simply removed. The Outlier should be detected, labelled and suitably treated. These activities cannot be performed without proper analytical tools and modeling approaches. There are dozens of methods proposed by scientists, starting from Gaussian-based statistical scoring up to data mining artificial intelligence tools. The research presented in this book presents novel approach incorporating non-Gaussian statistical tools and fractional calculus approach revealing new data analytics applied to this important and challenging task. The proposed book includes a collection of contributions addressing different yet cohesive subjects, like dynamic modelling, classical control, advanced control, fractional calculus, statistical analytics focused on an ultimate goal: robust and outlier-proof analysis. All studied problems show that outliers play an important role and classical methods, in which outlier are not taken into account, do not give good results. Applications from different engineering areas are considered such as semiconductor process control and monitoring, MIMO peltier temperature control and health monitoring, networked control systems, and etc.

This four-volume handbook covers important concepts and tools used in the fields of financial econometrics, mathematics, statistics, and machine learning. Econometric methods have been applied in asset pricing, corporate finance, international finance, options and futures, risk management, and in stress testing for financial institutions. This handbook discusses a variety of econometric methods, including single equation multiple regression, simultaneous equation regression, and panel data analysis, among others. It also covers statistical distributions, such as the binomial and log normal distributions, in light of their applications to portfolio theory and asset management in addition to their use in research regarding options and futures contracts. In both theory and methodology, we need to rely upon mathematics, which includes linear algebra, geometry, differential equations, Stochastic differential equation (Ito calculus), optimization, constrained optimization, and others. These forms of mathematics have been used to derive capital market line, security market line (capital asset pricing model), option pricing model, portfolio analysis, and others. In recent times, an increased importance has been given to computer technology in financial research. Different computer languages and programming techniques are important tools for empirical research in finance. Hence, simulation, machine learning, big data, and financial payments are explored in this handbook.Led by Distinguished Professor Cheng Few Lee from Rutgers University, this multi-volume work integrates theoretical, methodological, and practical issues based on his years of academic and industry experience.

G Families Of Probability Distributions written by Mir Masoom Ali and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-03-31 with Mathematics categories.

Statistical distributions are essential tools to model the characteristics of datasets, such as right or left skewness, bi-modality or multi-modality observed in different applied sciences, such as engineering, medicine, and finance. The well-known distributions like normal, Weibull, gamma and Lindley are extensively used because of their simple forms and identifiability properties. In the last decade, researchers have focused on the more complex and flexible distributions, referred to as Generalized or simply G families of probability distributions, to increase the modelling capability of these distributions by adding one or more shape parameters. The main aim of this edited book is to present new contributions by researchers in the field of G families of probability distributions. The book will help researchers to: Develop new univariate continuous and discrete G families of probability distributions. Develop new bivariate continuous and discrete G families of probability distributions. Derive beneficial mathematical properties such as ordinary and incomplete moments, moment generating functions, residual life and reversed residual life functions, order statistics, quantile spread ordering and entropies, and some bivariate and multivariate extensions of the new and existing models using a simple-type copula.
