Internet tomography, introduced from basic principles through to techniques, tools and applications, is the subject of this book. The design of Internet Tomography Measurement Systems (ITMS) aimed at mapping the Internet performance profile spatially and temporally over paths between probing stations is a particular focus. The Internet Tomography Measurement System design criteria addressed include: • Minimally-invasive, independent and autonomous, active or passive measurement; • Flexibility and scalability; • Capability of targeting local, regional and global Internet paths and underlying IP networks; • Compliance with the standardised performance methodologies and quality of service (QoS) metrics such as thoseof the Internet Engineering Task Force’s IP Performance Metrics Working Group. The book also features: • The use of Internet tomography measurement in modelling support, through network simulation and emulation, for real network and service design and analysis, and new service deployment; • The exploration of spatial and temporal Internet performance variations by means of scenario-based analysis using real-time Internet performance data; • Aspects of Internet tomography in next generation wireless network – wireless NGN – architectures; • The role of ITMS in Service Level Agreement design, implementation and compliance.

Traffic Measurement On The Internet written by Tao Li and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-30 with Computers categories.
Traffic Measurement on the Internet presents several novel online measurement methods that are compact and fast. Traffic measurement provides critical real-world data for service providers and network administrations to perform capacity planning, accounting and billing, anomaly detection, and service provision. Statistical methods play important roles in many measurement functions including: system designing, model building, formula deriving, and error analyzing. One of the greatest challenges in designing an online measurement function is to minimize the per-packet processing time in order to keep up with the line speed of the modern routers. This book also introduces a challenging problem – the measurement of per-flow information in high-speed networks, as well as, the solution. The last chapter discusses origin-destination flow measurement.

Data networking now plays a major role in everyday life and new applications continue to appear at a blinding pace. Yet we still do not have a sound foundation for designing, evaluating and managing these networks. This book covers topics at the intersection of algorithms and networking. It builds a complete picture of the current state of research on Next Generation Networks and the challenges for the years ahead. Particular focus is given to evolving research initiatives and the architecture they propose and implications for networking. Topics: Network design and provisioning, hardware issues, layer-3 algorithms and MPLS, BGP and Inter AS routing, packet processing for routing, security and network management, load balancing, oblivious routing and stochastic algorithms, network coding for multicast, overlay routing for P2P networking and content delivery. This timely volume will be of interest to a broad readership from graduate students to researchers looking to survey recent research its open questions.

The Radon Transform And Medical Imaging written by Peter Kuchment and has been published by SIAM this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-01 with Computers categories.
This book surveys the main mathematical ideas and techniques behind some well-established imaging modalities such as X-ray CT and emission tomography, as well as a variety of newly developing coupled-physics or hybrid techniques, including thermoacoustic tomography. The Radon Transform and Medical Imaging emphasizes mathematical techniques and ideas arising across the spectrum of medical imaging modalities and explains important concepts concerning inversion, stability, incomplete data effects, the role of interior information, and other issues critical to all medical imaging methods. For nonexperts, the author provides appendices that cover background information on notation, Fourier analysis, geometric rays, and linear operators. The vast bibliography, with over 825 entries, directs readers to a wide array of additional information sources on medical imaging for further study.

The success of a BCI system depends as much on the system itself as on the user’s ability to produce distinctive EEG activity. BCI systems can be divided into two groups according to the placement of the electrodes used to detect and measure neurons firing in the brain. These groups are: invasive systems, electrodes are inserted directly into the cortex are used for single cell or multi unit recording, and electrocorticography (EcoG), electrodes are placed on the surface of the cortex (or dura); noninvasive systems, they are placed on the scalp and use electroencephalography (EEG) or magnetoencephalography (MEG) to detect neuron activity. The book is basically divided into three parts. The first part of the book covers the basic concepts and overviews of Brain Computer Interface. The second part describes new theoretical developments of BCI systems. The third part covers views on real applications of BCI systems.

TheInternetisamassiveglobalnetworkofover700millionusersanditisadding users at the rate of 300,000 per day. This large, distributed, and everchanging network poses a challenge to researchers: How does one study, model, or und- stand such a decentralized, constantly evolving entity? Research in large-scale networks seeks to address this question, and the unique nature of these networks calls for a range of techniques from a host of disciplines. The workshop Com- natorial and Algorithmic Aspects of Networking and the Internet (CAAN 2004) provided a forum for the exchange of ideas on these topics. The primary goals of the workshop were to bring together a diverse cro- section of researchers in an already scattered and distinct community and also to provide a snapshot of the cutting-edge research in this?eld. We succeeded in these goals: among the participants were mathematicians, computer scientists in theory and algorithms, computer scientists in networks, physicists, and en- neers, as well as researchers from Europe and North America, participants from industry and academia, students, and established researchers; and among the papers were some new and surprising results as well as some introductions to the foundations of the?eld.
