This is a text for students who have had a three-course calculus sequence and who are ready to explore the logical structure of analysis as the backbone of calculus. It begins with a development of the real numbers, building this system from more basic objects (natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, Cauchy sequences), and it produces basic algebraic and metric properties of the real number line as propositions, rather than axioms. The text also makes use of the complex numbers and incorporates this into the development of differential and integral calculus. For example, it develops the theory of the exponential function for both real and complex arguments, and it makes a geometrical study of the curve (expit) (expit), for real t t, leading to a self-contained development of the trigonometric functions and to a derivation of the Euler identity that is very different from what one typically sees. Further topics include metric spaces, the Stone–Weierstrass theorem, and Fourier series.

Introduction To Analysis In Several Variables Advanced Calculus written by Michael E. Taylor and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-27 with Education categories.

This text was produced for the second part of a two-part sequence on advanced calculus, whose aim is to provide a firm logical foundation for analysis. The first part treats analysis in one variable, and the text at hand treats analysis in several variables. After a review of topics from one-variable analysis and linear algebra, the text treats in succession multivariable differential calculus, including systems of differential equations, and multivariable integral calculus. It builds on this to develop calculus on surfaces in Euclidean space and also on manifolds. It introduces differential forms and establishes a general Stokes formula. It describes various applications of Stokes formula, from harmonic functions to degree theory. The text then studies the differential geometry of surfaces, including geodesics and curvature, and makes contact with degree theory, via the Gauss–Bonnet theorem. The text also takes up Fourier analysis, and bridges this with results on surfaces, via Fourier analysis on spheres and on compact matrix groups.

The original edition of this book has been out of print for some years. The appear ance of the present second edition owes much to the initiative of Yves Nievergelt at Eastern Washington University, and the support of Ann Kostant, Mathematics Editor at Birkhauser. Since the book was first published, several people have remarked on the absence of exercises and expressed the opinion that the book would have been more useful had exercises been included. In 1997, Yves Nievergelt informed me that, for a decade, he had regularly taught a course at Eastern Washington based on the book, and that he had systematically compiled exercises for his course. He kindly put his work at my disposal. Thus, the present edition appears in two parts. The first is essentially just a reprint of the original edition. I have corrected the misprints of which I have become aware (including those pointed out to me by others), and have made a small number of other minor changes.

A Concise Introduction To Analysis written by Daniel W. Stroock and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-10-31 with Mathematics categories.

This book provides an introduction to the basic ideas and tools used in mathematical analysis. It is a hybrid cross between an advanced calculus and a more advanced analysis text and covers topics in both real and complex variables. Considerable space is given to developing Riemann integration theory in higher dimensions, including a rigorous treatment of Fubini's theorem, polar coordinates and the divergence theorem. These are used in the final chapter to derive Cauchy's formula, which is then applied to prove some of the basic properties of analytic functions. Among the unusual features of this book is the treatment of analytic function theory as an application of ideas and results in real analysis. For instance, Cauchy's integral formula for analytic functions is derived as an application of the divergence theorem. The last section of each chapter is devoted to exercises that should be viewed as an integral part of the text. A Concise Introduction to Analysis should appeal to upper level undergraduate mathematics students, graduate students in fields where mathematics is used, as well as to those wishing to supplement their mathematical education on their own. Wherever possible, an attempt has been made to give interesting examples that demonstrate how the ideas are used and why it is important to have a rigorous grasp of them.

Introduction To The Analysis Of Algorithms An written by Michael Soltys and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Algorithms categories.

"This textbook covers the mathematical foundations of the analysis of algorithms. The gist of the book is how to argue, without the burden of excessive formalism, that a given algorithm does what it is supposed to do. The two key ideas of the proof of correctness, induction and invariance, are employed in the framework of pre/post-conditions and loop invariants. The algorithms considered are the basic and traditional algorithms of computer science, such as Greedy, Dynamic and Divide & Conquer. In addition, two classes of algorithms that rarely make it into introductory textbooks are discussed. Randomized algorithms, which are now ubiquitous because of their applications to cryptography; and Online algorithms, which are essential in fields as diverse as operating systems (caching, in particular) and stock-market predictions. This self-contained book is intended for undergraduate students in computer science and mathematics."-

This book provides a comprehensive introduction to complex analysis in several variables. One major focus of the book is extension phenomena alien to the one-dimensional theory (Hartog's Kugelsatz, theorem of Cartan-Thullen, Bochner's theorem). The book primarily aims at students starting to work in the field of complex analysis in several variables and teachers who want to prepare a university lecture. Therefore, the book contains more than 50 examples and more than 100 supporting exercises.

Master the fundamentals of correspondence analysis with this illuminating resource An Introduction to Correspondence Analysis assists researchers in improving their familiarity with the concepts, terminology, and application of several variants of correspondence analysis. The accomplished academics and authors deliver a comprehensive and insightful treatment of the fundamentals of correspondence analysis, including the statistical and visual aspects of the subject. Written in three parts, the book begins by offering readers a description of two variants of correspondence analysis that can be applied to two-way contingency tables for nominal categories of variables. Part Two shifts the discussion to categories of ordinal variables and demonstrates how the ordered structure of these variables can be incorporated into a correspondence analysis. Part Three describes the analysis of multiple nominal categorical variables, including both multiple correspondence analysis and multi-way correspondence analysis. Readers will benefit from explanations of a wide variety of specific topics, for example: Simple correspondence analysis, including how to reduce multidimensional space, measuring symmetric associations with the Pearson Ratio, constructing low-dimensional displays, and detecting statistically significant points Non-symmetrical correspondence analysis, including quantifying asymmetric associations Simple ordinal correspondence analysis, including how to decompose the Pearson Residual for ordinal variables Multiple correspondence analysis, including crisp coding and the indicator matrix, the Burt Matrix, and stacking Multi-way correspondence analysis, including symmetric multi-way analysis Perfect for researchers who seek to improve their understanding of key concepts in the graphical analysis of categorical data, An Introduction to Correspondence Analysis will also assist readers already familiar with correspondence analysis who wish to review the theoretical and foundational underpinnings of crucial concepts.
