An Introduction To Namibian Law written by Amor, S.K. and has been published by University of Namibia Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-15 with Law categories.
The author of this book, Prof. S.K. Amor, is Acting Director of the Justice Training Centre and lecturer at the University of Namibia. The writing of this book was inspired mainly by the fact that, despite Namibia's independence in 1990, Namibian legal practitioners, academics and students lecturing and studying law at the University of Namibia (UNAM) still do not have a truly Namibian reference book. Instead, they rely heavily on legal literature from South Africa and other countries. An Introduction to Namibian Law is an attempt to bridge this gap by introducing law academics, lecturers and students to the most important aspects of Namibian law. It explains the origin of the country's law and looks at the various influences over the years. The book contains material covered in various UNAM courses, such as Jurisprudence, Introduction to Cases, Comparative Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Interpretation of Statutes, and Civil and Criminal Procedure. It also contains various extracts in support of legal arguments, in which legal concepts are illustrated and thoroughly explained, as well as sample legal forms. Full accounts of certain cases are included to give students of Namibian law a depth of understanding of how Namibian law has been applied over the years.

This paper reports economic developments in Namibia during the 1990s. Since the early 1990s, average GDP growth has been higher than in the previous decade, owing to the opening of two new diamond mines, the extension of the limits of Namibia’s coastal waters, and the rapid growth in government services. Real GDP grew by more than 5 percent in 1991–92, contracted by 2 percent in 1993, and expanded by 7 percent in 1994 and 5 percent in 1995. The allocation of domestic expenditure fluctuated during 1990–95.

The decolonization of Namibia was delayed from 1966 to 1989--the period of the war of independence--pitting the Namibian nationalists against the South African minority-ruled regime. This book describes the diplomatic, economic and military campaigns of the Namibian and South African belligerents and draws a comparison with several other decolonization wars. Using data from parliamentary debates, the aftermath is examined of the Namibian war and the newly independent nation. The book provides a basis for further investigation of the decolonization process.

The English language as spoken in Namibia has virtually been overlooked in most textbooks, handbooks, and surveys of varieties of English around the world, or else has only been mentioned in passing. However, this variety of English has recently attracted the attention of several researchers and the present volume brings together most scholars actively involved in the research on English in Namibia from various linguistic fields to present their current research. It covers a wide range of linguistic issues, such as empirical analyses on various levels of linguistic description and use, as well as the application of diverse methodologies, from questionnaire surveys, sociolinguistic interviews and focus group discussions, to corpus linguistics, linguistic landscaping, and digital ethnography. This book represents the first comprehensive collection of articles and in-depth discussions of this emerging variety of World Englishes.

As we search urgently for a strategy of sustainable natural resource management, an international debate is brewing over destructive modern fishery methods. Namibia's Fisheries is a timely contribution to this discussion as it examines Namibia's Benguela upwelling system, an area that supports traditional and modern forms of fishery. This volume analyzes the Namibian experience in fishery management, featuring essays by researchers, Namibian fishery managers, and international specialists that cover a range of ecological and social issues. Namibia's Fisheries will be a valuable resource for researchers, conservationists, and students of fishery management.

Swine virus diseases pose a significant threat to the pig industry due to their highly contagious nature and ability to cause immense harm. Once a pig is infected, the risk extends to the entire farm or even a larger area. In recent years, there has been an emergence and re-emergence of disease pathogens that have been able to overcome existing immune defense mechanisms through continuous recombination and evolution. As a result, current immune prevention and control measures have become ineffective. Notable examples of these diseases include African swine fever virus (ASFV), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), and porcine pseudorabies virus (PRV). These viruses constantly mutate under various selection pressures, including immunity within the host body and vaccine-induced immunity. Furthermore, with the increase in international trade, the spread of these viruses has become more rapid and extensive. Moreover, it is worth noting that similar virus strains originating from different regions have the potential to undergo recombination, resulting in the emergence of recombinant mutant strains. These mutant strains can pose a challenge to existing immune prevention and control measures, thereby adding complexity to the ongoing efforts in disease prevention and control.
