Introduction To The General Theory Of Singular Perturbations written by S. A. Lomov and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Mathematics categories.
This book is aimed at researchers and students in physics, mathematics, and engineering. It contains the first systematic presentation of a general approach to the integration of singularly perturbed differential equations describing nonuniform transitions, such as the occurrence of a boundary layer, discontinuities, boundary effects and so on. The method of regularization of singular perturbations presented here can be applied to the asymptotic integration of systems of ordinary and partial differential equations.

These lecture notes provide a fresh approach to investigating singularly perturbed systems using asymptotic and geometrical techniques. It gives many examples and step-by-step techniques, which will help beginners move to a more advanced level. Singularly perturbed systems appear naturally in the modelling of many processes that are characterized by slow and fast motions simultaneously, for example, in fluid dynamics and nonlinear mechanics. This book’s approach consists in separating out the slow motions of the system under investigation. The result is a reduced differential system of lesser order. However, it inherits the essential elements of the qualitative behaviour of the original system. Singular Perturbations differs from other literature on the subject due to its methods and wide range of applications. It is a valuable reference for specialists in the areas of applied mathematics, engineering, physics, biology, as well as advanced undergraduates for the earlier parts of the book, and graduate students for the later chapters.

The subject of this textbook is the mathematical theory of singular perturbations, which despite its respectable history is still in a state of vigorous development. Singular perturbations of cumulative and of boundary layer type are presented. Attention has been given to composite expansions of solutions of initial and boundary value problems for ordinary and partial differential equations, linear as well as quasilinear; also turning points are discussed. The main emphasis lies on several methods of approximation for solutions of singularly perturbed differential equations and on the mathematical justification of these methods. The latter implies a priori estimates of solutions of differential equations; this involves the application of Gronwall's lemma, maximum principles, energy integrals, fixed point theorems and Gåding's theorem for general elliptic equations. These features make the book of value to mathematicians and researchers in the engineering sciences, interested in the mathematical justification of formal approximations of solutions of practical perturbation problems. The text is selfcontained and each chapter is concluded with some exercises.

This book describes the life and achievements of the great French mathematician, Elie Cartan. Here readers will find detailed descriptions of Cartan's discoveries in Lie groups and algebras, associative algebras, differential equations, and differential geometry, as well of later developments stemming from his ideas. There is also a biographical sketch of Cartan's life. A monumental tribute to a towering figure in the history of mathematics, this book will appeal to mathematicians and historians alike.

This book studies the problem of the decomposition of a given random variable into a sum of independent random variables (components). Starting from the famous Cramer theorem, which says that all components of a normal random variable are also normal random variables, the central feature of the book is Feldman's use of powerful analytical techniques. In the algebraic case, one cannot directly use analytic methods because of the absence of a natural analytic structure on the dual group, which is the domain of characteristic functions. Nevertheless, the methods developed in this book allow one to apply analytic techniques in the algebraic setting. The first part of the book presents results on the arithmetic of probability distributions of random variables with values in a locally compact abelian group. The second part studies problems of characterization of a Gaussian distribution of a locally compact abelian group by the independence or identical distribution of its linear statistics.

This book places character theory and its applications to finite groups within the reach of people with a comparatively modest mathematical background. The work concentrates mostly on applications of character theory to finite groups. The main themes are degrees and kernels of irreducible characters, the class number and the number of nonlinear irreducible characters, values of irreducible characters, characterizations and generalizations of Frobenius groups, and generalizations of monomial groups. The presentation is detailed, and many proofs of known results are new.

Embeddings And Immersions written by Masahisa Adachi and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-11-07 with Mathematics categories.
This book covers fundamental techniques in the theory of -imbeddings and -immersions, emphasizing clear intuitive understanding and containing many figures and diagrams. Adachi starts with an introduction to the work of Whitney and of Haefliger on -imbeddings and -manifolds. The Smale-Hirsch theorem is presented as a generalization of the classification of -imbeddings by isotopy and is extended by Gromov's work on the subject, including Gromov's convex integration theory. Finally, as an application of Gromov's work, the author introduces Haefliger's classification theorem of foliations on open manifolds. Also described here is the Adachi's work with Landweber on the integrability of almost complex structures on open manifolds. This book would be an excellent text for upper-division undergraduate or graduate courses.Nothing provided

Asymptotic Methods For Engineers written by Igor V. Andrianov and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-05-16 with Mathematics categories.
Asymptotic Methods for Engineers is based on the authors’ many years of practical experience in the application of asymptotic methods to solve engineering problems. This book is devoted to modern asymptotic methods (AM), which is widely used in engineering, applied sciences, physics, and applied mathematics. Avoiding complex formal calculations and justifications, the book’s main goal is to describe the main ideas and algorithms. Moreover, not only is there a presentation of the main AM, but there is also a focus on demonstrating their unity and inseparable connection with the methods of summation and asymptotic interpolation. The book will be useful for students and researchers from applied mathematics and physics and of interest to doctoral and graduate students, university and industry professors from various branches of engineering (mechanical, civil, electro-mechanical, etc.).
