Mori's Program is a fusion of the so-called Minimal Model Program and the IItaka Program toward the biregular and/or birational classification of higher dimensional algebraic varieties. The author presents this theory in an easy and understandable way with lots of background motivation. Prerequisites are those covered in Hartshorne's book "Algebraic Geometry." This is the first book in this extremely important and active field of research and will become a key resource for graduate students wanting to get into the area.

One of the major discoveries of the past two decades in algebraic geometry is the realization that the theory of minimal models of surfaces can be generalized to higher dimensional varieties. This generalization, called the minimal model program, or Mori's program, has developed into a powerful tool with applications to diverse questions in algebraic geometry and beyond. This book provides the first comprehensive introduction to the circle of ideas developed around the program, the prerequisites being only a basic knowledge of algebraic geometry. It will be of great interest to graduate students and researchers working in algebraic geometry and related fields.

An Introduction To Sequential Dynamical Systems written by Henning Mortveit and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-11-27 with Mathematics categories.

This introductory text to the class of Sequential Dynamical Systems (SDS) is the first textbook on this timely subject. Driven by numerous examples and thought-provoking problems throughout, the presentation offers good foundational material on finite discrete dynamical systems, which then leads systematically to an introduction of SDS. From a broad range of topics on structure theory - equivalence, fixed points, invertibility and other phase space properties - thereafter SDS relations to graph theory, classical dynamical systems as well as SDS applications in computer science are explored. This is a versatile interdisciplinary textbook.

Ordinary differential equations serve as mathematical models for many exciting real world problems. Rapid growth in the theory and applications of differential equations has resulted in a continued interest in their study by students in many disciplines. This textbook organizes material around theorems and proofs, comprising of 42 class-tested lectures that effectively convey the subject in easily manageable sections. The presentation is driven by detailed examples that illustrate how the subject works. Numerous exercise sets, with an "answers and hints" section, are included. The book further provides a background and history of the subject.

Understanding And Using Linear Programming written by Jiri Matousek and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-07-04 with Mathematics categories.

The book is an introductory textbook mainly for students of computer science and mathematics. Our guiding phrase is "what every theoretical computer scientist should know about linear programming". A major focus is on applications of linear programming, both in practice and in theory. The book is concise, but at the same time, the main results are covered with complete proofs and in sufficient detail, ready for presentation in class. The book does not require more prerequisites than basic linear algebra, which is summarized in an appendix. One of its main goals is to help the reader to see linear programming "behind the scenes".

An Introduction To Semiclassical And Microlocal Analysis written by André Bach and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-14 with Mathematics categories.

The following lecture notes correspond to a course taught for several years, first at the University of Paris-Nord (France) and then at the University of Bologna (Italy). They are mainly addressed to nonspecialists in the subject, and their purpose is to present in a pedagogical way most of the techniques used in the microlocal treatment of semiclassical problems coming from quantum physics. Both the standard Coo pseudodifferential calculus and the analytic microlocal analysis are developed, in a context that remains intentionally global so that only the relevant difficulties of the theory are encountered. The main original ity lies in the fact that we derive all the main features of analytic microlocal analysis from a single a priori estimate, which turns out to be elementary once the Coo pseudodifferential calculus is established. Various detailed exercises are given at the end of the main chapters, most of them being easily solvable by students. Besides illustrating the main results of the lecture, their aim is also to introduce the reader to various further developments of the theory, such as the functional calculus of pseudodifferential operators, properties of the analytic wave front set, Gevrey classes, the use of coherent states, the notion of semiclassical measures, WKB constructions. Applications to the study of the Schrodinger operator are also discussed in the text, so that they may help the understanding of new notions or general results where they appear by replacing them in the context of quantum mechanics.

Introductory Probability is a pleasure to read and provides a fine answer to the question: How do you construct Brownian motion from scratch, given that you are a competent analyst? There are at least two ways to develop probability theory. The more familiar path is to treat it as its own discipline, and work from intuitive examples such as coin flips and conundrums such as the Monty Hall problem. An alternative is to first develop measure theory and analysis, and then add interpretation. Bhattacharya and Waymire take the second path.

Affordable softcover second edition of bestselling title (over 1000 copies sold of previous edition) A primer in harmonic analysis on the undergraduate level Gives a lean and streamlined introduction to the central concepts of this beautiful and utile theory. Entirely based on the Riemann integral and metric spaces instead of the more demanding Lebesgue integral and abstract topology. Almost all proofs are given in full and all central concepts are presented clearly. Provides an introduction to Fourier analysis, leading up to the Poisson Summation Formula. Make the reader aware of the fact that both principal incarnations of Fourier theory, the Fourier series and the Fourier transform, are special cases of a more general theory arising in the context of locally compact abelian groups. Introduces the reader to the techniques used in harmonic analysis of noncommutative groups. These techniques are explained in the context of matrix groups as a principal example.
