Il volume si propone di avviare alla conoscenza ed alla comprensione del diritto della Chiesa cattolica tutti coloro che di esso non hanno una precisa nozione, in particolare gli studenti delle Facoltà giuridiche, che saranno messi in grado di affrontare con maggior consapevolezza lo studio delle parti speciali del diritto canonico e, più in generale, aiutati ad affrontare gli altri settori della scienza giuridica. Pur mantenendo un rigore scientifico, questa “Introduzione al diritto canonico” adotta uno stile chiaro e di immediata accessibilità ed è sempre attenta a sollecitare l’interesse, la curiosità culturale ed anche i sentimenti del lettore attraverso richiami, nessi e collegamenti con fatti e persone conosciute, episodi storici, osservazioni sociologiche, suggestioni artistiche o letterarie.Paolo Moneta ha insegnato per molti anni diritto canonico e diritto ecclesiastico nell’Università di Pisa. E’avvocato della Santa Sede e della Rota Romana. E’ autore di un’ampia produzione scientifica, nell’ambito della quale ha particolarmente approfondito tematiche legate al diritto matrimoniale, al diritto processuale e al diritto amministrativo canonico. This book is a comparative study of two Church Communities, specifically the Anglican Communion and the Universal Catholic Church. It demonstrates what caused the Church in England to break away from the Catholic Church, and focuses on how English Law has influenced the Church of England since the sixteenth century, and how the Common Law system has molded its doctrine and ecclesiology. In its comparison, it follows the Churches’ histories from their inception up until the English Reformation. It highlights the differences between the two Church Communities from that time, and gives a detailed study of the two Church Communities’ understanding of law, authority and ecclesiology and how these influence the governing aspects of their respective communities. L’insegnamento del diritto canonico è all’origine della stessa istituzione universitaria; tuttavia, dopo secoli di mutamenti sociali, la sua centralità ha cambiato direzione. Consorti cerca di guidarli alla scoperta di un ordinamento millenario e tutt’ora affascinante, offrendo un quadro di insieme che permetta loro di comprendere la specificità di un diritto religioso e i suoi elementi essenziali. L’immagine del diritto canonico che emerge da queste lezioni è volutamente elastica, aderente alle istanze di riforma promosse da Papa Francesco: un «diritto canonico periferico», concentrato sulla sua funzione pratica di strumento al servizio della comunicazione del Vangelo e della salvezza delle anime.
