Is there credible evidence that Jesus--the carpenter from the ancient town of Nazareth--really is the Son of God? In this video Bible study (DVD/digital video sold separately), based on the New York Times bestselling book The Case for Christ, participants journey with Lee Strobel on a quest for the truth about Jesus. Skeptics dismiss the Jesus of the Gospels by claiming there is no evidence that he was God's Son. But does their claim hold weight? And, if not, what evidence is there, especially outside the Bible? Lee Strobel--a former legal journalist and one-time atheist--presents the findings of his own search for truth. This study guide is ideal for: Believers who want to learn more about the hard evidence behind their faith. Christians who find themselves becoming uncertain or doubtful. Anyone investigating, curious, or even skeptical about Christianity. Sift through historical evidence and passages from a range of theologians, thinkers, philosophers, and laypeople on the topic of Jesus as you weigh compelling expert testimony that rejects easy answers. With discussion prompts, Bible passages, and personal reflection cues facilitated by contributor Garry Poole, Strobel invites you and your group to investigate the truth about Jesus Christ as he leads up to the facts that guided him from atheism to faith in Christ. By the end of this six-session study, groups may very well see Jesus in a new way--and even, like Strobel, find their life transformed. Sessions include: The Investigation of a Lifetime Eyewitness Evidence Evidence Outside the Bible Analyzing Jesus Evidence for the Resurrection Reaching Your Verdict Designed for use with The Case for Christ Video Study 9780310698517 (sold separately).

This book provides an original and comprehensive assessment of the hypotheses concerning the origin of resurrection Christology. It fills a gap in the literature by addressing these issues using a transdisciplinary approach involving historical-critical study of the New Testament, theology, analytic philosophy, psychology and comparative religion. Using a novel analytic framework, this book demonstrates that a logically exhaustive list of hypotheses concerning the claims of Jesus’ post-mortem appearances and the outcome of Jesus’ body can be formulated. It addresses these hypotheses in detail, including sophisticated combinations of hallucination hypothesis with cognitive dissonance; memory distortion; and confirmation bias. Addressing writings from both within and outside of Christianity, it also demonstrates how a comparative religion approach might further illuminate the origins of Christianity. This is a thorough study of arguably the key event in the formation of the Christian faith. As such, it will be of keen interest to theologians, New Testament scholars, philosophers, and scholars of religious studies.

This book aims to analyse scripture in the context of all Bible evidence relating to the most frequently asked questions in Christianity. These top ten topics have divided many in the body of Christ confirmed in various different teachings of the church. Many of the answers to these questions in scripture are clear cut, whereas others need a lot more scrutiny by weighing up all scripture and not just particular chosen verses to come to an informed decision. My intention is not to push for a particular teaching of the church, but rather ask the most important question; what does the text say? Some of the most frequently asked questions in Christianity are philosophical, whereas other questions will be on an ethical and moral basis. When investigating many of the answers to these questions it will be vital to take it from a scriptural standpoint, that the word of God does not change (Hebrews 13.8) (James 1:17) (Mal 3:6). This also means that He has not changed His mind according to the moral guidance He has given us. Any answers to the questions will not rely on subjective evidence based on the way society feels about a given situation, but will be based on the unchanging objective word of God. 'All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness'. 2 Timothy 3:16QUESTIONS THIS BOOK INTENDS TO INVESTIGATE -Where did Cain get his wife?-What does the Bible say about pastors being women?-What does the Bible say about Christians tithing?-Can a Christian lose their salvation?-What happens when we die?-Do pets go to heaven?-Why is Christian baptism important?-What does the Bible say about the Trinity?-What does the Bible say about drinking alcohol?-What does the Bible say concerning divorce?ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Karsten is an international award winning author 'Tithing: Reviewing Scripture in context', and 'Creation: On the Origin of Man'. He has worked as a Pentecostal Pastor, planting churches in the UK and working in a Missions and Evangelism department ministering the Gospel in Africa, Asia and South America. With a PGCE from Exeter University and studies with the Open University in Educational Research, he has taught Religious Education mainly in Christianity and Judaism for the last 20 years. He also has a keen interest in apologetics.

The Case for Christ Study Bible features more than 500 notes and articles, including: A.)
