Investigation of anorectal disorders has become a very wide field reaching from case history and simple plain radiography to advanced techniques such as defecography, nuclear medicine, endosonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. The place and value of defecography, thedynamic demonstration of bowel evacuation, have not previously been clearly defined. In this highly illustrated volume, radiologists experienced in thisfield describe techniques, radiation risks, and the interpretation of normal and abnormal findings using the aforementioned techniques of investigation. Anorectal surgeons and gastro- enterologists also participatein the discussion of indications and the influence of abnormal findings on patient management. This book will be helpful as a practical guide tothe choice, performance, and interpretation of the appropriate investigationfor a patient with functional anorectal disorders. As such it represents an excellent addition to the library of every physician and specialist withan interest in anorectal disease.

Anorectal Disorders: Diagnosis and Nonsurgical Treatments incorporates the most recent major advances in the understanding of anal and rectal anatomy to provide clinical evidence of care for those suffering from anorectal disorders. By condensing basic and practical aspects in the knowledge of anorectal disorders, this book provides a comprehensive review of the anatomy and physiology of the anorectal region. It includes new technology that expands and modifies current perceptions about the functional anatomy of the anorectal region and ultimately impacts how we conceive muscle and nerve structures functioning together to maintain fecal continence and properly execute the process of defecation. Perfect for medical researchers, gastroenterologists, general practitioners, internal medicine doctors and general surgeons, this title will provide diagnosis and treatment options for all patients suffering from anorectal disorders. Identifies frequent, but not well understood, anorectal disorders, including ulcers, constipation, dyssynergic defecation, tumors and malformations Condenses the basic and practical aspects of anorectal disorders for better treatment of patients Includes clinical cases that summarize chapter content in a clinical context

Diagnosis And Management Guide For Anorectal Disease written by Waqar Qureshi and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-06-01 with Medical categories.

Many gastroenterologists are presented with patients complaining of one or more of several anorectal symptoms. Patients expect that a gastroenterologist can treat their symptomatic hemorrhoids or anal fissures or diagnose accurately their rectal bleeding. Today the evaluation and treatment of these common ailments is not included within the core curriculum of most gastrointestinal fellowship training programs, and therefore has not been incorporated into a typical GI practice. Diagnosis and Management Guide for Anorectal Disease: A Clinical Reference looks to fill that void. Dr. Waqar Ahmed Qureshi states that most of these perianal and anorectal problems can be successfully treated non-surgically. Diagnosis and Management Guide for Anorectal Disease: A Clinical Reference reviews a number of diseases that gastroenterologists should be able to effectively manage in their office, which eliminates extra cost, inconvenience, and frustration for their patients. A few of the topics that can be found inside: Anatomy and Examination Anatomy and Physiology of the Pelvic Floor Benign Anorectal Conditions Hemorrhoids, Anal Fissures, and Anal Pruritus Benign Soft Tissue, Perianal, Perineal, and Complicated Conditions Pilonidal Disease, Aanorectal IBD Management, and Defecation Disorders Neoplasms Anal Carcinoma and screening high-risk groups The gastroenterologist occupies a unique position between conservative treatment offered by primary care physicians and the more invasive procedures offered by the surgeon. Diagnosis and Management Guide for Anorectal Disease: A Clinical Reference is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of anorectal diseases that they can manage and, therefore, improve the care of their patients in one comprehensive volume.

Imaging is now central to the investigation and management of anorectal and pelvic floor disorders. This has been brought about by technical developments in imaging, notably, three-dimensional ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which allow high anatomical resolution and tissue differentiation to be presented in a most usable fashion. Three-dimensional endosonography in anorectal conditions and MRI in anal fistula are two obvious developments, but there are others, with dynamic st- ies of the pelvic floor using both ultrasound and MRI coming to the fore. This atlas provides an easy way to gain a detailed understanding of imaging in this field. The atlas is divided into four sections covering the basic anatomy, anal/perianal disease, rectal/perirectal disease and functional assessment. One of the difficulties with developing an atlas is to strike the right balance - tween text and images. Too much text and it is not an atlas; too little text and the - ages may not be understood. The editors of this atlas are to be congratulated on achi- ing an appropriate balance. The images are all that one expects from an atlas, and the diagrams are excellent. The commentaries at the end of invited chapters are a valuable addition, placing what are relatively short, focussed chapters into context. They add balance and depth to the work and are well worth reading.

High Resolution And High Definition Anorectal Manometry written by Massimo Bellini and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-03 with Medical categories.

The book provides a comprehensive overview of high resolution and high definition anorectal manometry (HRAM/HDAM), showing the possible benefits of a wider use of these techniques in clinical practice, as well as their limitations. Although these techniques provide fresh insights into anorectal function and offer a new perspective on the pathophysiologic mechanisms of many defecation disturbances, there is a need to clarify whether their use has beneficial effects on clinical management compared to conventional manometry. There is still a considerable way to go to gain the clinical diffusion of esophageal HRM, which has become the gold standard in studying esophageal motility. Indeed, many gastroenterologists and surgeons are convinced that further studies are necessary in order to be able to recommend HRAM and HDAM over and above conventional anorectal manometry. The first part of the book presents anorectal anatomy and pathophysiology, highlighting the indications and limitations of conventional anorectal manometry. The second part then focuses on the general concepts of high resolution manometry and the difference between conventional anorectal manometry and HRAM/HDAM, including technical aspects and different equipment. The third part explains how to perform, analyze and interpret HRAM and HDAM recordings, and describes the parameters study protocol, normal values and how to formulate a particular diagnosis. Lastly, the fourth part includes a collection of normal and pathological images with a glossary of the most frequently terms. Written by experts in the field of anorectal manometry and defecation disorders, this book is of interest to specialists and residents dealing with these conditions.
