Saša Baškarada presents a capability maturity model for information quality management process assessment and improvement. The author employed six exploratory case studies and a four round Delphi study to gain a better understanding of the research problem and to build the preliminary model, which he then applied in seven international case studies for further enhancement and external validation.

Contemporary organizations are producing and storing more information then ever before in history. The resulting information overload, combined with the lack of quality assurance for information management, has led to a questionable state of information quality in many organizations. Furthermore, assessing, enhancing, and managing information quality has proven to be a notoriously difficult undertaking. This paper presents a capability maturity model approach for information quality management process assessment and improvement. The paper first presents a set of criteria, as identified from extensive literature review and exploratory case studies, which are thought to be of importance when considering a holistic approach for information quality management. The paper then presents the results of a Delphi study, which was used to validate those criteria and organize them into a staged capability maturity model - Information Quality Management Capability Maturity Model (IQM-CMM). The paper finally presents the preliminary results of a case study, where IQM-CMM was applied in a large Australian engineering asset management organization, and used as a comprehensive approach for evaluating their existing information quality management practices. As a result, it is believed that IQM-CMM may help organizations in assessing their existing information quality management practices, and in identifying potential gaps and improvement strategies.

Towards A Capability Maturity Model For Information Quality Management written by Sasa Baskarada and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with categories.

An increasing number of contemporary organizations are coming to realize the importance of Information Quality (IQ) to effective decision making. However, assessing and enhancing the quality of information can still be a daunting task. Consequently, we propose a TDQM based Capability Maturity Model (CMM) for Information Quality Management (IQM). It is believed that the maturity model may assist organizations in assessing and enhancing their IQM capability, by addressing a wide range of Information Management (IM) and IQM process areas and organizing those process areas into staged levels.

Contemporary enterprises have in recent times experienced significant changes, most of which have been technologically driven. The result of these gales of change has been an overabundance of information [17]. Yet such information abundance has not necessarily resulted in a more informed organization nor more effective decision making. Enterprises are now managing more information than ever before and are becoming aware of a range of information quality issues. Consequently, IQ problems abound and IQM is becoming ever more important. Many organizations recognize that they are having problems with the quality of information in their Information Systems (IS) however, they often find it difficult to assess their existing IQM capability. For that reason, we propose an IQM Maturity Model as a tool for assessing and enhancing organizational IQM Capability.

Asset Condition, Information Systems and Decision Models, is the second volume of the Engineering Asset Management Review Series. The manuscripts provide examples of implementations of asset information systems as well as some practical applications of condition data for diagnostics and prognostics. The increasing trend is towards prognostics rather than diagnostics, hence the need for assessment and decision models that promote the conversion of condition data into prognostic information to improve life-cycle planning for engineered assets. The research papers included here serve to support the on-going development of Condition Monitoring standards. This volume comprises selected papers from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd World Congresses on Engineering Asset Management, which were convened under the auspices of ISEAM in collaboration with a number of organisations, including CIEAM Australia, Asset Management Council Australia, BINDT UK, and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China. Asset Condition, Information Systems and Decision Models will be of particular interest to finance, maintenance, and operations personnel whose roles directly affect the capability value of engineering asset base, as well as asset managers in both industry and government.

Written by experienced process improvement professionals who have developed and implemented systems in organizations around the world, Interpreting the CMMI®: A Process Improvement Approach provides you with specific techniques for performing process improvement using the CMMI® and the family of CMM models. Kulpa and Johnson describe the fundamental concepts of the CMMI® model - goals, practices, architecture, and definitions - in everyday language, give real-world examples, and provide a structured approach for implementing the concepts of the CMMI® into any organization. They walk you through the myriad charts and graphs involved in statistical process control and offer recommendations for which tools to use. The book covers roles and responsibilities, people issues, how to generate meaningful documentation, how to overcome resistance to change, and how to track the success of your efforts. It provides examples of plans, policies, processes, procedures, and team charters. The appendices include matrices summarizing the different assessment techniques that have now been approved by the SEI for use, "pros and cons" associated with this model, some of the myths that have arisen from the marketing of the CMMI® effort, and forms and templates. The book comes with a CD-ROM that contains forms and templates that can be downloaded and customized. The authors distill the knowledge gained in their combined 60 years of experience in project management, software engineering, systems engineering, metrics, quality assurance, configuration management, training, documentation, process improvement, and team building. Whether you are new to process improvement or an experienced professional, Interpreting the CMMI®: A Process Improvement Approach saves you time wasted on false starts, false promises by marketers, and failed deadlines.
