Nella sua ricerca ad opera di un tale Anzelmo, un vecchio pescatore, che la istruisce in merito alla possibilità di viaggiare attraverso un esoterico portale e ritrovarsi indietro o avanti nel tempo a proprio piacimento. In quella occasione il pescatore, le illustra come e dove trovare il portale. E' un dono degli Antichi dei, quando vivevano sulla terra. In una battaglia finale, Isabella affronta la donna strega e la sua setta, usando tutta la sua saggezza e i suoi poteri per combattere l'oscurità. Grazie alla sua perseveranza e alla sua intelligenza, Isabella riesce a sconfiggere i nemici e liberare Napoli dal loro controllo. Dopo la vittoria, Isabella e Carlo finalmente possono vivere la loro storia d'amore senza le catene delle convenzioni sociali. La Janara, che ha seguito tutto l'episodio da lontano, si rende conto che la sua figlia è davvero l'erede delle sue capacità magiche, ma con una forza e una compassione ancora più potenti. Così, Isabella diventa una figura leggendaria nella Napoli spagnola del 1600, la figlia della Janara che ha combattuto contro le tenebre per portare luce e speranza alla sua amata città, Napoli.

Paralleling his friend Alexis de Tocqueville's visit to America, Gustave de Beaumont traveled through Ireland in the mid-1830s to observe its people and society. In Ireland, he chronicles the history of the Irish and offers up a national portrait on the eve of the Great Famine. Published to acclaim in France, Ireland remained in print there until 1914. The English edition, translated by William Cooke Taylor and published in 1839, was not reprinted. In a devastating critique of British policy in Ireland, Beaumont questioned why a government with such enlightened institutions tolerated such oppression. He was scathing in his depiction of the ruinous state of Ireland, noting the desperation of the Catholics, the misery of repeated famines, the unfair landlord system, and the faults of the aristocracy. It was not surprising the Irish were seen as loafers, drunks, and brutes when they had been reduced to living like beasts. Yet Beaumont held out hope that British liberal reforms could heal Ireland's wounds. This rediscovered masterpiece, in a single volume for the first time, reproduces the nineteenth-century Taylor translation and includes an introduction on Beaumont and his world. This volume also presents Beaumont's impassioned preface to the 1863 French edition in which he portrays the appalling effects of the Great Famine. A classic of nineteenth-century political and social commentary, Beaumont's singular portrait offers the compelling immediacy of an eyewitness to history.

Queens Consort, Cultural Transfer and European Politics examines the roles that queens consort played in dynastic politics and cultural transfer between their natal and marital courts during the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries. This collection of essays analyses the part that these queens played in European politics, showing how hard and soft power, high politics and cultural influences, cannot be strictly separated. It shows that the root of these consorts’ power lay in their dynastic networks and the extent to which they cultivated them.
