Since the advent of the internet, online communities have emerged as a way for users to share their common interests and connect with others with ease. As the possibilities of the online world grew and the COVID-19 pandemic raged across the world, many organizations recognized the utility in not only providing further services online, but also in transitioning operations typically fulfilled in-person to an online space. As society approaches a reality in which most community practices have moved to online spaces, it is essential that community leaders remain knowledgeable on the best practices in cultivating engagement. Community Engagement in the Online Space evaluates key issues and practices pertaining to community engagement in remote settings. It analyzes various community engagement efforts within remote education, online groups, and remote work. This book further reviews the best practices for community engagement and considerations for the optimization of these practices for effective virtual delivery to support emergency environmental challenges, such as pandemic conditions. Covering topics such as community belonging, global health virtual practicum, and social media engagement, this premier reference source is an excellent resource for program directors, faculty and administrators of both K-12 and higher education, students of higher education, business leaders and executives, IT professionals, online community moderators, librarians, researchers, and academicians.

In 1978, Ghana was a participant in the Alma-Ata meeting on primary health care and was an early adopter of its ideals. However, like most developing countries it has made efforts to strengthen public health as a way of ensuring the conditions in which its people can be healthy and productive. The evolution of the public health in the country involved core assessments, policy development, and the implementation of interventions to address its policy objectives. The process of strengthening public health policy and interventions other the past four and more decades, has hinged on evidence generated through research at the local and international level. The documentation of interventions to address contemporary health issues is a critical plank for the health practice to policy continuum; it catalyzes the country response of the myriads of public health issues confronting it. Many lessons have accrued for the country's communities to enhance the promotion, restoration, and maintenance of health even as the disease burden evolves from one of infectious and communicable diseases and maternal and child health, to an increasingly sophisticated triple burden incorporating non-communicable diseases.

Disaster Research And The Second Environmental Crisis written by James Kendra and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-04 with Science categories.
The 50th anniversary of the Disaster Research Center of the University of Delaware provoked a discussion of the field’s background, its accomplishments, and its future directions. Participants representing many disciplines brought new methods to bear on perennial problems relevant to effective disaster management and policy formation. However, new concerns were raised, stemming from the fact that we live today in a globally unfolding environmental crisis every bit as pressing and worrisome as that of the 1960s when the Disaster Research center was founded. This volume brings together ideas of participants from that workshop as well as other contributors. Topics include: the history and evolution of disaster research, innovations in disaster management, disaster policy, and ethical considerations of disaster research. Readers interested in science and technology, public policy, community action, and the evolution of the social sciences will find much of interest in this collection.
