Goren would be perfectly satisfied living life off his father's savings, content with no real aims or goals. However, it seems that life has other plans for him when, one night, he dreams of committing a grotesque murder as a blue-grey monster. His fractured brain puts him in denial. Then a friend tells him some horrible news: there's been a murder. It's a horrifying scene that's put the city on edge. When Goren immediately starts recognizing the details, he jumps into panic mode. What happened to that monster? And what about that dream? (TW: gun violence, some censored swearing, this is a horror book) "Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I liked how [Dorian] incorporated a comedic style into it, more so than before. Personally, I like reading things that are written how I would speak/think/respond and [Dorian] did that a lot here." -Kayla, early reader

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The beloved Fannie Flagg is at her irresistible and hilarious best in I Still Dream About You, a comic mystery romp through the streets of Birmingham, Alabama, past, present, and future. Meet Maggie Fortenberry, a still beautiful former Miss Alabama. To others, Maggie’s life seems practically perfect—she’s lovely, charming, and a successful agent at Red Mountain Realty. Still, Maggie can’t help but wonder how she wound up living a life so different from the one she dreamed of as a child. But just when things seem completely hopeless, and the secrets of Maggie’s past drive her to a radical plan to solve it all, Maggie discovers, quite by accident, that everybody, it seems, has at least one little secret. I Still Dream About You is a wonderful novel that is equal parts southern charm, murder mystery, and that perfect combination of comedy and old-fashioned wisdom that can be served up only by America’s own remarkable Fannie Flagg. Praise for I Still Dream About You “[Fannie Flagg is] a born storyteller.”—The New York Times Book Review “Undoubtedly [Flagg’s] wisest book, comic and compassionate . . . Born of a tender heart and nurtured by an imaginative mind, it’s certain to touch the reader’s soul.”—Richmond Times Dispatch “A fun and rollicking Nancy Drew mystery for grown-ups.”—The Birmingham News “Classic Fannie . . . What [Flagg] writes about, time and again, are the touching, terrifying, heartbreaking, hysterical, extraordinary, everyday things that make us human.”—Southern Living

Permission To Screw Up written by Kristen Hadeed and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-10 with Business & Economics categories.

The inspiring, unlikely, laugh-out-loud story of how one woman learned to lead–and how she ultimately succeeded, not despite her many mistakes, but because of them. This is the story of how Kristen Hadeed built Student Maid, a cleaning company where people are happy, loyal, productive, and empowered, even while they’re mopping floors and scrubbing toilets. It’s the story of how she went from being an almost comically inept leader to a sought-after CEO who teaches others how to lead. Hadeed unintentionally launched Student Maid while attending college ten years ago. Since then, Student Maid has employed hundreds of students and is widely recognized for its industry-leading retention rate and its culture of trust and accountability. But Kristen and her company were no overnight sensation. In fact, they were almost nothing at all. Along the way, Kristen got it wrong almost as often as she got it right. Giving out hugs instead of feedback, fixing errors instead of enforcing accountability, and hosting parties instead of cultivating meaningful relationships were just a few of her many mistakes. But Kristen’s willingness to admit and learn from those mistakes helped her give her people the chance to learn from their own screwups too. Permission to Screw Up dismisses the idea that leaders and organizations should try to be perfect. It encourages people of all ages to go for it and learn to lead by acting, rather than waiting or thinking. Through a brutally honest and often hilarious account of her own struggles, Kristen encourages us to embrace our failures and proves that we’ll be better leaders when we do.

Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race,” a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of black women and men—bodies exploited through slavery and segregation, and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’s attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son. Coates shares with his son—and readers—the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences, from Howard University to Civil War battlefields, from the South Side of Chicago to Paris, from his childhood home to the living rooms of mothers whose children’s lives were taken as American plunder. Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.

Synopsis of myself. Gordon Cotter...Male DOB 11: 05: 1934 in Birmingham England. In September 1939, I, and thousands of children, was evacuated from inner cities, to rural Britain, this was to escape the onset of heavy bombing by German Luftwaffe planes. As war had been declared on Germany. I was sent to a small community in Northern Scotland. There was no communication in those days. Only things we heard was from the Radio. It was put on twice a day. The local community was made up of farmers, and some of the wives went to the local Landowner as maids and cleaning staff. I was 5 years old, and it took time for me to be accepted. I went to the local schoolhouse three times a week for lessons. The rest of the time I was expected to help around the farmyard. I began to notice that a lot of women often came to the house and was taken into the parlour, sometimes I would sneak into here and watch, and listen to the women talking. After a while I got braver and just sat in a corner whilst the women were there. It began to come to me that these women were telling my Grandma about their dreams. When they were finished they gave my granda some eggs, or butter. Now I understand it was payment. As time went on I began to understand more of what granda was saying to these women. I became interested in it. I still did not know what it was about. Years past, and when I was about eleven or twelve. The was came to an end. I had settled into life in Scotland and quite enjoyed the life. It was then that I was told about me being an Evacuee, and I could return to my original home if I wanted to. I did not remember any of it so I said that I wanted to stay. (Years Later I regretted this action) I had become very close to my grandmother during this time, and she and I often talked about the dreams and she said that I, did seem to have the gift????? I had by this time began to understand just what she meant by the various talks with these women. I was eventually allowed to sit in on the talks, and sometimes I was asked for my opinion. In later life, my granda became poorly, and she showed me a lot of her private books that she had written down her musings on all of the subjects within dreams. I was asked to take over from her for the readings. When she died, I was asked if I wanted anything of hers. I asked for the books that she had written down her thoughts on the subject. I moved back to Birmingham, and the books lay in my attic for years. In 1972 I came across them and again began to get an interest in the interpretation of dreams. I got out grandma's books and decided to bring them up to date. It has taken my since then to complete them.
