Is religion a right given to us by the state? Is it an opium for the masses? Is it private opinion with no role in the public sphere? In It Is Right and Just, bestselling author Scott Hahn and Brandon McGinley challenge our idea of religion and its role in society. Hahn and McGinley argue that to answer questions over religious liberty, justice, and peace, we must first reject the insidious lie perpetuated by secular-liberal culture: that religion is a private matter. Contrary to what political commentators and activists say, religion is not only relevant to justice and law, but is necessary for civilization to thrive. Recover the public nature of true religion, It Is Right and Just argues, and watch as a revolution unfolds. A Path of Our Own tells the story of Pomatambo, a village in one of the poorest parts of Peru's highlands. Adam Webb brings to life the experiences of three generations of these humble peasants as they have been confronted by the modern world and tried to find a place in it. Through a land reform, a bloody Maoist insurgency, and the economic turbulence of more recent years, Pomatambo has looked for a way to break out of dire poverty while staying true to its own values and identity. But this is much more than the story of one village. Pomatambo's tale of hard times mirrors how traditional communities all over the world have been ill served by the dominant ideologies of the twentieth century. Webb's poignant and insightful narrative demonstrates that the governments and movements of both right and left have not only failed to deliver for the rural poor, but also have assaulted much that they hold dear. He maps out a vision of how traditional communities like Pomatambo can reclaim the future rather than surrender to others' plans for them. And he imagines an economy of values that at last could bring a just and decent prosperity to the countryside of the global South--and elsewhere.

The story evolves from mundane, early twenty-first century contemporary politics to a cosmic apotheosis. The first chapters examine the struggles of current nation states, with a special focus on the United States: Presidential successions, immigration, the economy, the energy crisis, the war on terrorism, etc.History advances through the constant ebb and flow of progress and retrogression, taking one step back for every two steps forward. In the near future, the US and the Western Hemisphere suffer great decline. However, there occurs a Renaissance - the Great Awakening. The Western Hemisphere, a new confederacy called Hispaniola, once again will provide renewed leadership and inspiration to the world.Gradually, there is world unification, and expansion into space. In time, there is a federated Earth - Gaia - which expands into the Solar System - Solaria. There are many ups and downs and tragedies, even in the distant future. However, bit by bit, war between nations becomes something of the past and humankind relies increasingly on true science.Scientific progress means space travel, the conquest of space, super communication networks, and above all: the science of the mind. True science is not mechanistic. It is the science of consciousness.Humanity is a forward moving intelligence. It moves towards perfect knowledge - what primitive cultures have called "God." Humanity becomes a unified macro-organism, now called Solaria. In addition, there is A.I. (Artificial Intelligence).Throughout this history, dozens of figures appear. They are major historical figures, some bad, some good, some related to each other in long dynasties. They are society's political and scientific leaders and protagonists. They help humanity to overcome conflict, wars and other challenges.Solaria is the leading anti-entropic life-force in the galaxy and ultimately in the universe, counteracting the universe's relentless race towards ultimate entropy and oblivion. The narrative culminates in an apotheosis when, in the late twenty-fifth millennium, Solaria begins to expand into the galaxy in order to humanize it. Because of Solaria/humanity, the universe becomes self-aware. Humanity evolves towards the Omega point, the point in infinity where total knowledge is achieved.

Imagining Judeo Christian America written by K. Healan Gaston and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-15 with History categories.

“Judeo-Christian” is a remarkably easy term to look right through. Judaism and Christianity obviously share tenets, texts, and beliefs that have strongly influenced American democracy. In this ambitious book, however, K. Healan Gaston challenges the myth of a monolithic Judeo-Christian America. She demonstrates that the idea is not only a recent and deliberate construct, but also a potentially dangerous one. From the time of its widespread adoption in the 1930s, the ostensible inclusiveness of Judeo-Christian terminology concealed efforts to promote particular conceptions of religion, secularism, and politics. Gaston also shows that this new language, originally rooted in arguments over the nature of democracy that intensified in the early Cold War years, later became a marker in the culture wars that continue today. She argues that the debate on what constituted Judeo-Christian—and American—identity has shaped the country’s religious and political culture much more extensively than previously recognized.

Between Eden And Armageddon written by Marc Gopin and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-11-07 with Religion categories.

Recent years have seen a meteoric rise in the power and importance of organized religion in many parts of the world. At the same time, there has been a significant increase in violence perpetrated in the name of religion. While much has been written on the relationship between violence and religious militancy, history shows that religious people have also played a critical role in peacemaking within numerous cultures. In the new century, will religion bring upon further catastrophes? Or will it provide human civilization with methods of care, healing, and the creation of peaceful and just societies? In this groundbreaking book, Marc Gopin integrates the study of religion with the study of conflict resolution. He argues that religion can play a critical role in constructing a global community of shared moral commitments and vision--a community that can limit conflict to its nonviolent, constructive variety. If we examine religious myths and moral traditions, Gopin argues, we can understand why and when religious people come to violence, and why and when they become staunch peacemakers. He shows that it is the conservative expression of most religious traditions that presents the largest challenge in terms of peace and conflict. Gopin considers ways to construct traditional paradigms that are committed to peacemaking on a deep level and offers such a paradigm for the case of Judaism. Throughout, Gopin emphasizes that developing the potential of the world's religions for coping with conflict demands a conscious process on the part of peacemakers and theologians. His innovative and carefully argued study also offers a broad set of recommendations for policy planners both inside and outside of government.
