Pagan Theology written by Michael York and has been published by NYU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-04 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

In Pagan Theology, Michael York provides an introduction to, and expansion of, the concept of Paganism and provides an overview of its theological perspective and practice. He demonstrates it to be a viable and distinguishable spiritual perspective found today in such forms as Chinese folk religion, Shinto, tribal religions, and neo-Paganism in the West. While adherents of many of these traditions do not use the word "pagan" to describe their beliefs or practices, York contends that there is an identifiable position possessing characteristics and understandings in common for which the label "pagan" is appropriate. He outlines these characteristics and also explores paganism as a general form of religious behavior which may be found in other religions which are not themselves pagan. In the course of examining such behavior, York provides descriptions of religions in action, including Buddhism and Hinduism.

The bold revelation about religion based on the present concept as a human rather than divine invention. Book Three of the Trilogy of Truth. Humans are created with an inherent desire to connect with the supernatural because the human spirit is a product of the supernatural—the Breadth of Life from God. The fall in the Garden of Eden caused a disconnection between Man and God. Pagan World: Deception And Falsehood In Religion draws from history, religious history, and theology to reveal the origin of the present concept of religion, falsehood in religion, and paganism. It explores the Abrahamic Covenant while assessing the three main Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—to ascertain the validity of each as a representative of the covenant God made with Abraham. Highlighting the role of eisegesis in the invention of theologies used to found different religions, Ziri employs the right Biblical hermeneutics in exegeting Scriptural texts to reveal shortcomings associated with such theologies while also applying the rightful interpretation of Biblical texts including prophecies to reveal God’s plan for the restoration of mankind. Written with Ziri’s trademark literary dexterity and investigative skill, this insightful and thought-provoking exposé is Pagan World: Deception And Falsehood In Religion.

Pagan Ethics written by Michael York and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-05 with Religion categories.

This book is the first comprehensive examination of the ethical parameters of paganism when considered as a world religion alongside Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism. The issues of evil, value and idolatry from a pagan perspective are analyzed as part of the Western ethical tradition from the Sophists and Platonic schools through the philosophers Spinoza, Hume, Kant and Nietzsche to such contemporary thinkers as Grayling, Mackie, MacIntyre, Habermas, Levinas, Santayana, etc. From a more practical viewpoint, a delineation of applied pagan ethics is then presented in connection with current moral issues such as same-sex union, recreational drugs, environmental awareness, abortion and terrorism. Finally, overviews of sectarian pagan ethics (Shinto, Santeria, Heathenism, Druidry, Romuva, Slavic, Kemeticism, Classical and Wicca) provide both the general and pagan reader with an understanding of the provocative range and differentiation of pagan ethical thought. The book approaches the Western ethical tradition as an historical development and a continuing dialogue. The novelty of this approach lies in its consideration of paganism as a legitimate voice of religious spirituality rather than a satanic aberration or ridiculous childish behavior. The book is aimed at both the contemporary Western pagan and anyone with an interest in the moral dilemmas of our times and the desire to engage in the global ethical discussion. Among the more important features of the book are its presentation of a re-evaluation of idolatry, the notion of the virtue value, the richness of the pagan tradition, and the expansion of Western ethics beyond its Christian heritage.

The people to whom Peter wrote his first epistle were already undergoing trials of all kinds and were soon to face fierce persecution for their faith at the hands of the cruel Emperor Nero. The apostle writes to encourage and strengthen them in the face of these trials and to remind them of the wonderful blessings and privileges they have in Christ. He has a great deal to say about relationships, both to fellow Christians and to unbelievers, in the workplace and in the home, in the local church and in society at large. In his second epistle Peter warns his readers against another danger that has threatened believers through the ages, that of false teaching. He points them to Gods Word as their one sure light amid the darkness and confusion of error and urges them to live holy lives in the light of the Lords return.

With most of the Christian world honoring Sunday as their day of worship, the question of its origin becomes important. Over the past hundred years much has been written about the use of the week among ancient pagan peoples. However, little has been done to compile such historical material into an easily accessible book for the general public. Robert Leo Odom for years has conducted special research on the Sabbath-Sunday question. In Sunday in Roman Paganism, he leads readers through the pages of history showing the rise of the planetary week and its day of the Sun in the heathenism of the Roman world during the early centuries of the Christian era. This book is not a capsulated history of Sunday as a church festival, but rather the history of the planetary week as it was known and used in the pagan world, and to show whether or not its day of the Sun was then regarded by pagans as being sacred to their Sun-god.

As a non-dogmatic religion, paganism is a spiritualty that is variously interpreted in terms of nature worship, this-worldliness, the valuing of the physical, and multiple understandings of the sacred. Like most religions, pagan spirituality also entertains the experience of mystical ecstasy as an intense state of psycho-spiritual consciousness that radically diverges from ordinary waking awareness. This volume addresses two fundamental questions, namely: “how do the world’s religions understand the mystical and its pursuit?”, and “how and why does paganism offer something different?” Proverbially, the mystical quest is an ultimate human endeavour. The re-emergence of pagan thought in contemporary times challenges the obsolete and unlocks both innovation and available forms of transpersonal emancipation.
