The fact that I was in a dangerous situation also put my children's lives at risk and gave me the strength and courage to take control of my life. I write poems as a medicinal tool to help heal my wounds internally and emotionally. It allows me to tell a story and controls my mental state of mind by putting it at ease and peace. These crucial changes allowed me to have the peace of mind that I have today. I have some good memories which I will always embrace and treasure, but had more bad than good that will never be forgotten.
