Desde 1987, año en que la lengua española dejó de ser oficial en el Archipiélago Filipino tras más de cuatro siglos, se ha dado por extinguida la literatura filipina en español. No obstante, una última y reducida generación de hispanohablantes filipinos seguía en vida, y esto no ha hecho sino espolear aún más las inquietudes de la juventud por reconocer la tradición de la cultura y la lengua en que escribiera el héroe nacional José Rizal. Habiendo representado la literatura nacional de Filipinas a comienzos del siglo XX y hasta no ser más que una de las literaturas marginales de un archipiélago políglota a comienzos del XXI, la literatura hispanofilipina actual refleja la coyuntura del laberinto filipino: la escisión de una nación como consecuencia de la desvertebración social y la diáspora a que la ha conducido el subdesarrollo. Pero si los medios de recepción literaria actuales en Filipinas son limitados, el ciberespacio ha dado al escritor filipino una audiencia de quinientos millones de lectores. Literatura hispanofilipina actual pone en común toda la producción literaria filipina en español desde 1987 hasta el presente, con el fin de mostrar la coherencia de un mundo creativo ignorado por las Letras Hispánicas. A pesar del olvido, mediante un esfuerzo de resultados insólitos destinado a dilucidar el dilema de la modernidad filipina, autores diseminados desde Vancouver a Santiago de Chile pasando por Manila continúan dando cuerpo a una literatura asiática en lengua española.

On the occasion of the celebrations of the bicentennial anniversary of Chile, and the centennial anniversary of the National Museum of Fine Arts, constructed in 1910 as part of the festivities of the Independence centennial, the MNBA planned a series of exhibitions under the title of Centenario. This beautifully edited recompilation volume comprises the history of the museum MNBA with a descriptive and illustrated catalogue of the 250 most important pieces of its patrimonial collection exhibited in the 7 modules that comprised the program Centenario. Milan Ivelic, director of the MNBA explains: "The objective of this publication is to articulate and organize the symbolic imaginaries that are part of the holdings of the Collection of Chilean Art of the MNBA.
