On August 5th, 1996, The Great Sasuke defeated Último Dragón in the final match of a once-in-a-lifetime tournament in which eight Junior Heavyweight champions, representing titles originating in Japan, Mexico and The United States clashed to crown a true champion of champions. The winner of the tournament would claim all eight championships, the collective name given to the prize being The J-Crown. The J-Crown did not last long, only going on to be held by five wrestlers in total, with the belts worn and defended together for little more than a year before being disbanded and returned to their companies of origin; in the context of the long history of professional wrestling, the J-Crown came and went in the blink of an eye. If the J-Crown is to be thought of as a moment in time, the aim of this book is to look at where each of those titles came from and show you where they went. In some cases this means traversing a path back over fifty years before the tournament and looking at the full twenty-five years since; in other cases it means catching a glimpse at a title that was around for less than five years either side of the J-Crown, all with the aim of showing the influence of those championships and their holders, hopefully helping to underline just how remarkable an achievement winning the J-Crown really was. This book intends to celebrate the J-Crown tournament by honoring those who paved the way to and from what still stands as the greatest point of convergence in pro-wrestling history with their blood, sweat and tears.

While J-Crowned Volume 1 provides illustrated biographies of some of the most famous heavyweights to reign as champions in New Japan, All Japan and Pro-Wrestling NOAH, Volume 2 contains the Junior Heavyweight Championship lineages of those same companies and broadens its range by including stars of AJW and those women who have held The World of Stardom and NEO High Speed Championships. A celebration of the individuals who have achieved excellence within the realm of pro-wrestling, J-Crowned Volume 2 continues the acclaimed series which exists to inform and take steps against the forgetting of the magnificent men and women who have done battle in the ring.

Since the debut of Rikidōzan in 1951, Japanese professional wrestling has created a legion of grappling superstars, taking a distinctly Western art form and making it something uniquely their own. It began with a simple story-a valiant Japanese star taking on enormous American invaders, the narrative a reflection of Anti-American sentiment that remained strong after Japan's defeat in World War II. Even before television sets were widespread, Japanese fans would gather around TVs at department stores and publicly cheer their heroes to victory. Rikidōzan spawned dozens of copycats and proteges, each one a hero in his own right. Soon, Japanese wrestling became an industry of its own, big enough to support multiple companies and thousands of matches a year. The top wrestler in every company was usually the heavyweight champion, each king part of a legacy that extended all the way back to Rikidōzan himself. All are part of something bigger than themselves, representative, for a time, of the best Japan could offer the wrestling world. Wrestling historian Matt Charlton puts each major champion in context, capturing their likeness and telling their story. The result isn't just a beautiful illustrated guide to the champions of Japanese wrestling-it's a history of the sport itself as told by an admiring enthusiast of the form.

It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. This book focuses on photoswitches. The objective of the book is to introduce researchers and graduate course students who are interested in "photon-working switches" not only to the fundamentals but also to the latest research being carried out in this field. Light can reach a target substrate without any physical contact to deliver energy. The energy can induce changes in the structure of the molecules included in the substrate so that its properties and functions are made switchable by light irradiation. When a substrate is able to revert to its original state, this system can be regarded as a "photon-working switch". The terms "photon-working switches" or "photoswitches" are almost equivalent in meaning to "photochromism"; however, they focus on the "switching of functions" of chemical species rather than their "reversible transformation". Most of the authors of this volume are members of PHENICS, an international research group on organic molecular photoswitches composed of research institutions from France, Japan, Russia, China and Germany. Since its inception in 2008, PHENICS has promoted active research to develop the field. This book commemorates the group's eighth year of collaborative research.

Avian Energetics And Nutritional Ecology written by C. Carey and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.

A symposium held in 1973 chaired and organized by William R. Dawson was the first major attempt to summarize and synthesize the existing information in the then emerging field of avian energetics. The symposium featured papers by James R. King, William A. Calder III, Vance A. Tucker, and Robert E. Ricklefs and com mentaries by George A. Bartholomew, S. Charles Kendeigh, and Eugene P. Odum. The proceedings of the symposium, Avian Energetics (Paynter 1974), played a critical role in stimulating interest and research in the field of avian energetics. Some twenty-odd years later, we are making another attempt to summarize the information in the field of avian energetics. Some obvious differences exist be tween its predecessor and this volume. Numerous improvements in methodology, such as the use of doubly labeled water to estimate metabolism in free-living birds, now allow researchers to ask questions that could not be addressed previ ously. Second, consideration of nutrition is now inseparable from that of energet ics. This merger is necessary not only because food intake is the source of both en ergy and nutrients but also because one or more nutrients, rather than energy, can be limiting for a given species in a particular instance. Finally, the study of ener getics and nutritional ecology, particularly in birds and mammals, has grown so dramatically that a single volume can now only partially cover the range of possi ble topics and can catalogue only a sampling of all the studies on the subject.
