De ahí que los autores analicen en este libro patrones, factores y posibles salidas a la vulnerabilidad de los jóvenes en México hacia un próspero desarrollo a la adultez, en tres de los ámbitos más cruciales: la inserción en el mercado laboral, el ejercicio de su sexualidad, salud reproductiva, y su posibilidad de vivir una vida libre de la violencia y conflictos. Con cada uno de los capítulos ofrecen un acercamiento hacia la realidad de la condición de pobreza y vulnerabilidad de la juventud mexicana, desde diversas disciplinas, utilizando distintas metodologías tanto cualitativas como cuantitativas para enriquecer así la aproximación de esta compleja temática con la posibilidad de diseñar políticas públicas enfocadas hacia la erradicación de estas condiciones.

Este documento sistematiza el proceso de diagnóstico e intervención de un proyecto sobre la inclusión social y la ciudadanía de las y los jóvenes en entornos de violencia, vulnerabilidad y exclusión en México. Estamos seguros de que los resultados aquí expuestos serán de utilidad tanto para las organizaciones e instituciones que trabajan con jóvenes, como para las y los actores involucrados en esta intervención intersectorial; seguramente nos ayudará a tomar mejores decisiones en proyectos futuros.

In the 21st century myriad earth systems – atmospheric systems, ocean systems, land systems, neo-Liberal capitalism – are in crisis. These crises are deeply related. Taking diverse and multiple forms, they have diverse and multiple consequences and are evidenced in such things as war, everyday violence, hate and extremism, global flows of millions of the dispossessed and homeless; and in the precarious, uncertain, and marginal existence of millions more. Rethinking Young People’s Marginalisation is concerned with the experience, affect, and effects of these earth systems crises on: • young people’s life chances, life choices, and life courses • young people’s engagement with education, training, and work • the character of young people’s being and becoming, their gendered embodiment, their participation in cultures of democracy, their resilience, and their marginalisation. Indeed, in setting out to rethink young people’s marginalisation, this insightful volume makes a contribution to troubling key concepts in Youth Studies, primarily: structure and agency; transitions and pathways; gender and embodiment, citizenship, risk, and resilience.
