Este livro retoma a questão da autorização dos psicanalistas na obra de Jacques Lacan, principalmente a partir do seminário de 1973-1974 denominado Les non-dupes errent. Neste seminário, Lacan critica o autoritarismo e o poder das Instituições Oficiais de Psicanálise, mas repensa a sua proposição de 1967 onde afirmara que o analista só se autoriza por si mesmo. Em 1974, Lacan mantém essa proposição original da autorização dos analistas, mas faz a ela um acréscimo fundamental: o e por alguns outros. Numa analogia à constituição da sexualidade, afirma ele que assim como ocorre com o ser sexuado - que precisa autorizar-se por si mesmo a ocupar seu lugar na sexualidade, mas não está sozinho para isso – da mesma forma, o analista só se autoriza por si mesmo... e por alguns outros. Buscando compreender essa nova proposição, tomamos como ponto de partida a análise do processo de institucionalização da formação dos psicanalistas em Freud e percorremos alguns conceitos fundamentais da sexualidade na obra de Lacan, a saber: a constituição da sexualidade, as fórmulas quânticas da sexuação, a impossibilidade da relação sexual, a inexistência d’A mulher, a diferenciação entre os sexos e, por fim, a autorização do ser sexuado. Após realizado esse percurso, constatamos que certamente o analista só se autoriza por si mesmo, mas não pode entrar na psicanálise como bem entender e sem prestar contas a ninguém. Dessa forma, responder quem são esses alguns outros que participam da autorização do psicanalista, é a que nos propomos neste trabalho que poderá ser válido àqueles que desejam se autorizar a ocupar o lugar de analista.
