Such a conclusion is a denial not only of the religion which we profess, but also of the value of our civilisation as a means of elevating the human race, and it is the duty of every one who has thought deeply on the problems involved to do all in his power to dispel such an opinion. For thirty-six years I have been in close touch with all the most important events in the Far East which have affected world conditions, and I hope I shall not be considered pre sumptuous when I express the decided Opinion that if such a struggle takes place it will be brought about not so much by the development of the East as by the aggressive action of the West.
